I like clipping the highlights of the buying at the start of the rounds and cutting out the dead air for keeping the games rolling, good stuff! Also, 2 game format clipped like that is good. Subscribed on this one.

Hi Whooped, First I would like to start by congratulating you on the quality of your videos. And it's nice to see how you respect your opponents regardless of the outcome of the match or the quality of their play. I find myself checking youtube a little more often, eager to see if you've posted a new game 🙂. It's nice to have your feedback on the ups and downs of your games, especially since I have pretty much the same playstyle as you. 2 games per video seems like a good idea to me, something like 30mins seems ideal for a strategy game like Mechabellum. But a few short games here and there would also be a good thing for your channel to attract those who prefer shorter formats.

I've been debating this for a bit now. I figure anyone who watches KZbin hears it on every single video they watch, so it'd be a bit refreshing if I didn't say it. So I've been trying to come up with ways to suggest it in a more approachable way--so it doesn't come off as annoying. A quick mention at the end isn't a bad idea at all.

Congratz on the partnership! I also prefer 2 games videos but do what's best for your channel, I'll watch either way. My 2 cents: I really prefer when you show all your prep like the last round of the 2nd game, the heavy edit kinda take away your thought process and that's a shame. I'm here to see great game, but also to see YOU play the game. Keep going, you're doing great!

My takes (1650). Anyone who disagrees feel encouraged to let me know: G1 : Round 1 it isn't good to get arclights. The spiders already can clear any chaff at round 1 and it is better to have more chaff of your own. Especially since you are running fangs into crawler/Stang meaning they are countered twice. In my opinion you should get crawlers turn 1. Also for positioning aoe units in general, try not to put them right next to each other. Aoe is more effective if it comes from different angles. Now on round 2 we are already loosing the chaff war due to those 2 reasons, so our scorp is really ineffective. At this point it becomes really difficult, because we are behind on tempo and opp has a well rounded comp. On round 3 Snipers for anti-air are cope, because we have much bigger problems already on the board which we have to adress first. We need a win soon or the sabers outscale the scorps. At this point probably the best option is to overload our strong side this, because we are weaker overall. I would put an arclight on the left outside to clear the stangs, so the scorp can hit the saber. Pair that with a set of crawlers since he doesn't have arcs on the outside and they will eats the stangs too. Put a mirrored pack of crawlers on the other side to delay and prep for next turn when we can put a scorp and arclight on that side as well. After round 3 the game just snowballs because of the compounding errors, so it is not that helpful to analyze. Game 2 also has a lot of minor changes I would make, but I don't like commenting on wins, because it devolves into what-if scenarios rather quickly.

I 100% agree about the Arclights. There was a point in the video where I said I like buying Arclights because of x reason, which is true, I do--but not right there. I realized it right after saying it and I was thinking to myself, "uh oh. I dun messed up."

Take those W’s Random question. What do you think are the chances Mechabellum blows up and starts getting a real esports scene?
@WhoopedGG
@WhoopedGG 2 ай бұрын
That’s a great question. I think Mechabellum has a lot of promise for breaking into the esports scene. The game offers deep strategic gameplay, which is a big plus for competitive play. It’s designed to be engaging for both hardcore and casual players, making it appealing to a wide audience. Plus, it doesn’t have the usual APM or aiming requirements, which lowers the barrier to entry and makes it accessible to more people. It's also perfect for commentary and viewership because there is a lot of speculation about the different moves each player is making and what the outcomes might be. The game has already made great strides with features like the replay system, the built-in tournament system, and the solid UI. The spectator/voting mode and streaming badges are also standout features that enhance the player's experience. Testing Grounds is another strong feature they offer. However, there are some quality-of-life improvements that could make a big difference in attracting and keeping players. For example, a ranking system with tiers like bronze, silver, and gold would give players clear milestones to work towards and a sense of progression. For example, I want the GM title, and that is something I will work towards. A detailed statistics and profile screen, hotkeys, an undo button, and a more refined chat system would also enhance the player experience. Additionally, improvements to the in-game store could be beneficial both financially for the company but also for the player. If these basics are addressed, Mechabellum could become a highly attractive game for both players and viewers. The increase in the player base would make Bearlike’s vision for hosting esports events with cash prizes more and more likely. Plus, an esports scene is exciting and could help establish the game’s credibility. A game that is both fun and competitive, with a polished presentation, not only draws in competitive players but also maintains its relevance and excitement in the broader gaming community. With the right support and development, Mechabellum could make a run in esports. It has the potential. The "short" version: they have a solid foundation with excellent gameplay and great features. The game seems to align nicely with having an esports scene. They need to address several quality-of-life issues that will make the game much more polished and attractive. The player base should grow, and if it does, I can absolutely see in-person tournaments becoming a regular occurrence. It would probably be something like online qualifiers for quarterly or triannual regional events and semi-annual or annual in global events, with the end-of-the-year tournament being a world championship of sorts. I think that broadcasting weekly tournaments on their official channel that show top players competing for points toward further qualifiers would be absolutely fantastic. The chances? Promising, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Side note: Mechabellum is such a global game that I think it would be awesome to have rotating in-person events in the United States, Europe, and wherever else, depending on popularity and logistics.

Haha that's funny--I like it on those units for precisely that reason. They're so slow, so I feel like it gives them a small bonus to close the gap. When a Scorpion has to move up after a kill, for example. I totally understand the reasoning behind melee or faster units in general. It just feels a tiny bit smoother. I'll have to go in the Testing Grounds to see if it makes much of a difference.

as someone who i see using scorps a lot, could i ask you what do you consider the counter of scorps to be? to this day i still don't know how to counter them, and any time the enemy places them down it feels like the game shifts into a "scorpion game", where i will continue losing until i either hack or field my own scorpion, at which point i will switch back to winning
@WhoopedGG
@WhoopedGG 2 ай бұрын
I like playing Scorpions because I find them to be an excellent counter to giants. Range Enhancement + Acid are very nice counters to many different compositions. That being said, it relies on having Range plus Acid. Because of that, Stormcallers with EMP, I would say, are pretty hard counters as long as you have the units necessary to clean them up. Of course, AM is something your opponent is likely to have or get very fast once you go EMP Storms. Marksman are another counter for similar reasons (EMP), but they also can out-range Scorpions and do high single-target damage. So if you're going carry Marksman, or Marksman for utility purposes, that can also be a counter. One of the more consistent ways to counter Scorpions, though, is to beat your opponent on chaff clear so that you're hitting his Scorpions and other units while his shots are still hitting your chaff. That is the number one frustrating thing I have to deal with when I go Scorpions. I can protect against EMPs. I can counter ranged Marksman. But my Scorpions can't be effective if I'm not clearing their chaff as efficiently or better than they are clearing mine. So, knowing that, sending more chaff at the Scorpions can be an answer. Layering chaff so they aren't all coming at once helps. Different arrival times as well (Crawlers, Fangs, etc.). With that being said, shielded Fangs are what you want to go for. Also, shields in general--like with the Fortress, for example. Fang Production on the Fortress is terrible to go against--and this is especially true if it's Fang Production + Shields. Your Scorpion simply will just never hit their units other than chaff. You'll have to have a different win condition altogether. I will say, too, that Steel Balls with Mechanical Division are also pretty tough to go against. I would say Steel Balls are less consistent overall. Scorpions can absolutely wreck them. But if they are leveled and teched, Mechanical Division can be an absolute nightmare to deal with. Of course, I excluded air from the conversation. Scorpions can't shoot up, so theoretically, all air fits into this description. However, I have had a lot of people try to go air against me, giving up the ground battle, and I win because AA Marksmen are excellent against Phoenix and Overlords, and they've lost the chaff war, so by the time they can hit the Scorpions, it's too late. If you're winning though, ranged Phoenix can burst down Scorpions rather nicely.

@@spuriusscapula6481 As whooped already pointed out scorps are similar to storm in the way that there isn't a unit "that hard counters" but it's more about the overall (com)position of the board. But if I had to say one thing it's chaff for sure. If you have chaff on top of them any single target or air unit (except for wraiths, but they can be important in a comp that counters scorps) counters scorps.

I like the two game videos, but realistically, if your priority is expanding the channel, you probably want to go with as short a format as possible. I'm also getting worried about my dependence on scorpions. I lost around 100 mmr just trying to avoid them and find alternatives, but can't really find anything with that much range (not even accounting for splash) that does so much damage and has so much survivability except maybe a sabretooth, which relies on rng. When they nerf the scorpion, and I'm pretty sure they will, I think I'm gonna struggle quite a bit.

@@franciscomagalhaes7457 Well it again comes down to the chaff war if you have enough chaff and chaff clear you can tech into range/suck/mech div and they tend to give giants a lot of trouble even the opp has a lot of giants. Of cours if we are talking ultra late game (like turn 10+) you can always also add some melters into the mix.
