Thank GOD I found this video. I took everything off the engine to replace seals, oil pump, water pump, timing change, head gaskets, valve seals. The works. And did it all without knowing if there was a book let alone a whole SERIES. Setting the rings on the pistons today. This video means more to me than you think. 😢

Man I really loved this series. I would love to see a video on you installing the engine especially with how detailed you go into it. It would help to see how the engine goes back in the car especially if I plan to do a 2zz swap in the future.

So far u are the only one that has requested a continuation of the series. Hmmmm. I will say this… if I document the engine installation, I won’t b nearly as good bc I’m a one man show. Since the area is so tight, I won’t be able to setup and tripod and position the camera properly while I use both my hands to do the install. A perfect example would be trying to film the install of the serpentine belt. So, I’m hesitant to show the install if it can’t be well shot. What do u think? Will it be ok to show what I’m goin to do and show the final result bc I can’t physically record the process of me doing it?
@Potato44
@Potato44 2 жыл бұрын
@@RelentlessRacingAJ I think it's still worth showing what can be showed especially since you explain clearly what you did. Maybe a suggestion is to show the areas in the engine bay where several parts of the engine/transmission will be mounted and then show that same spot on the engine while it's out? Of course if it's too difficult and too much work I wouldn't want you to spend a long time recording the install since I'm sure you are eager to start the car up as I know I would be if I was in your position

Thx so much for the kind words and appreciate you watching the series. From what I recall I used the following OEM parts: oil pump, IACV, idler, bearings, timing chain tensioner, timing chain, & timing chain guides. All the other parts are from World Pac. If you see super bright and clean hardware, it’s from McMaster. I have a good collection of M6, M8, M10, & M12 hardware. If the hardware is shiny, but dark in color that’s the OEM hardware which I wire brushed and clear coated. Learned that back in the day. Lol. Thx again, AJ

Great detailed video! Are those new flywheel bolts or did you re-use the old ones? What made you go with blue threadlocker over red? Thanks
@RelentlessRacingAJ
@RelentlessRacingAJ Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. In the video those are used flywheel bolts. Note, at the time of filming, I was waiting for the flywheel bolts so for the sake of time I filmed the process. Once they arrived, I took it apart and used new flywheel bolts which come w a thread locker on them from the factory. If you look at these specific used flywheel bolts they will exhibit necking. Once torqued and removed the middle section of the flywheel bolt will have a smaller diameter bc it stretched when it was initially torque. So, you should always use new OEM flywheel bolts or if you opt for the ARP flywheel bolts (come w a special lubricant so no thread locker required) you can reuse them. With respect to thread locker, I never use red bc I think of red thread locker as permanent. Pls subscribe. Thx AJ

Fernando, Have you read the OE service manual? Before I start working on a project, the first thing I do is read the OE service manual. The OE service manual details every step reqd. Did u take lots of pics of the motor b4 u pulled it out? Often times I’ll mark the different hoses prior to removing them so I can reference them later in the pics. KZbin and the rest of the internet can b a wonderful source of info, but it’s on you to learn how to learn. I’m not going to answer your question to encourage you to figure it out. Do you recommend having the intake manifold and alternator on when installing the engine?
@RelentlessRacingAJ
@RelentlessRacingAJ 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, install the intake and alternator before installation. When I pull the motor, I remove the front and rear engine mounts and then swing the motor back to access the AC compressor. It makes it a lot easier to pull the AC compressor. Then, I support the motor/trans and remove the left and right engine mounts. Finally, I lower the motor/trans to a dolly. Installing is the exact opposite. I'm sure there are other methods, but this is the one that works for me. pls subscribe. Thx, AJ

This may sound dumb. I looked through countless forums and no one had a direct answer nor did anyone try doing it. So my question is, can a 2001 Celica ecu plug directly to a 2003-2004 Corolla? Cable driven throttle body. If not is there a way to use the Celica engine harness in the Corolla? Perhaps making a video about it. Many of us are looking for cheaper ways to modify our Rollas.

I got my 1zz rebuild for my 2000 celica gt. I ran into issue where oil being sucked into intake manifold thru the breather hose. I have replaced the pcv valve and the oil cap gasket. It didn't solve the problem. The psi on the cyclinders are about 190. The oil that is in the intake manifold is dirty. Is this cause by blow by? Extra pressure in the crankcase? I got new rings and valve seals. I did use lapping compound on the seal to make it seal properly but i didn't do a test to make it's 100% sealed. I'm very frustrated. If i don't have the oil burning issues, the car runs fine. I can put a catch can but that is a permanent fix.
