In the bottom front left of the filter housing there a drain for letting the fuel out of filter housing for when you change the filter I drain this first before removing the filter, if you need the wipe the inside out you can do that once you have the filter out. By draining filter housing it saves on making a mess.

You usually don't have to clean out the fuel filter housing... fuel flows outside the fuel filter, to the inside. Best thing you can do is change the fuel filter regularly. Gold flakes means the pump is wearing down :(
@Mad4FrenchCars4 жыл бұрын
Thankyou mate for the comment i apreaciate i will have to have a look at the pump. I have just bought this car i have made a video on, for the little project for summer my normal car is 407 but 1.6hdi and on 1.6hdi fuel filter changes are different becouse you dont need to change catridge you just change a whole square box with a catridge in it. Also i have discovered that this car was not serviced regulary before as even the oil i found 7 litres of oil in it rather then 4.25 wich should be there. But i am still happy with a condition of it for project and i will bring it back to life to rise and shine once again.

Hello, I see myself back on your channel again for advice 😄 i need to change the fuel pump (the one in the tank) in my 2.0 hdi 607 so same engine. I'm guessing i have to prime the pump using the same theqnique ur using here am i right ? Thanks for all the all the helpful videos ❤
@Mad4FrenchCars6 ай бұрын
@@ibdark hello the one in a tank should be accessible from under the rear seats once a seat is lifted. All connections has to be unplugged and then it has to be undone and yes it will be some air in a system after replacement so i would air it out really well using this video. I think first thing i would do is i would disconnct a fuel supply to fuel filter and take a small 5 litre canister or something and prime fuel in to it until it goes without air then its should be fine connected to fuel filter if there is more air in a system you can do a whole thing like in a video

@@Mad4FrenchCars Hello, so I just came back from the car, and I have a small dilemma, there is no pump in the tank, it's just the sender unit (floater). The pump I ordered has the actual electrical pump inside the sender unit. The one in the car just has 2 pins for the fuel gauge and that's it. I read somewhere that it might not have a low pressure fuel pump ? could that be the case ? or is it somewhere else along the fuel circuit. As it stands the car works, but I need to go on a longer trip this weekend and I`m afraid it might die on me again. Any insights would be greatly appreciated

How long have you had that primer bulb fitted. Id be warey of it leaking, ive got the dw10 2.0tdci have been thinking its over due for the fuel filter may try doing it myself or to take to mechanic.
@Mad4FrenchCars2 жыл бұрын
Hello mate in a Peugeot and Citroen Engine the hdi engines are equipt with priming bulb as a standard. I am aware that in TDCI engines they didn't come with even thought it's a same engine. I would recommend to get some sort of priming bulb before you go ahead with a fuel filter replacement as you most likely will struggle to get air out of the fuel system without it.
@tupaguska8270 Жыл бұрын
what did you do with the fuel from the filter housing? Should it be put back into the fuel tank?
@Mad4FrenchCars Жыл бұрын
I personally wouldn't put it back in a housing I just got rid off it. Old fuel in a housing had something wich looked like small metal pieces so deffinatelly not something you want in it

When i start my peugeot 407 it can’t start is it because of the diesel filter?
@Mad4FrenchCars2 жыл бұрын
It can be many problems if it doesn't start not just a diesel filter. Best way is to scan it and see what fault codes comes up. Then you will know if it's fuel system related or something else

Would it maybe be a good idea to add a diesel cleaner fluid to the fuel pot while it open?
@Mad4FrenchCars3 жыл бұрын
All I can say mate is all them redex and other stuff people put in theyr diesel which suppose to clean injectors, some reduce emissions and other nonsense actually just ruin your fuel filter and in a long run effect your injectors and you start to experience things which you haven't had before. If a car runs proper there is no need to add anything. I had loads of bad experience with additives on 1.6hdi I have seen what they actually do to your car and fuel filter in particular becomes like full of jelly after using it for a while.

@@Mad4FrenchCars The guy means that there is a special hose right at the bottom of the filter cartridge, that can be used to drain the diesel out. The hose ends at the bottom of the engine and spills the fuel on your plastic engine protection, or on the ground. Still a big syringe is preferable.
