Gorgeous!!! I’d like to ask abt the best peninsula flow and the type of sand you’re using.
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
We like to make sure to add a lot of flow at one end of the tank so the other glass panel is free from magnets and cords, giving a nice clean look :) If you can't fit a large wave maker, you could also use a gyre! Which is great at sending flow across the tank and moving the water in circular motion.

We keep them at levels that all corals would like. Nitrates below 30 and phosphates below 0.1. Some corals can withstand large fluctuations and some can't. To make all corals happy, we make sure to keep the tank as stable as we can.

We've never really had issues with this.. With dry rock, it's definitely tough to start up a tank without going through an ugly stage. That's why we'd recommend circulating the rocks in a tub before adding it to the tank! Especially if you're planning a new tank setup, its great to have a tub of cycled rocks on the side to choose from! :)

After you built the new aquascape for the 750G tank, did you glue the scape together or just stacked the rock and left it as is?

Question: In a fish only 45 gallon tank with only a pet White Stripe Maroon Clownfish, filtered by a canister filter and with a air driven counter current protein skimmer - do I need to do weekly water change or can I do a biweekly water change? I do weekly water changes, but I am wondering if bi-weekly would serve the same purpose?
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
I say it all comes down to what your nutrient levels are reading. If the tank remains clean after a week, you'll be safe yo do less water changes. It also doesn't hurt to use carbon to keep your tank clear if you do so as well :)
@drayven666_ Жыл бұрын
Hey WWC, is it worth buying live rock over dry rock even with the pests? Vic mentioned that the dry rock was a pain, have you experienced a new tank stabilizing faster with all live rock? I've never used live before and I'm wondering if it's worth dealing with the pests for the stability.
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
Live rock with pests usually comes from the ocean. No matter what, you don't want to add pest in your tank. The best thing to do, which is what we do, is to cycle dry rock so that it is ready when ever we set up a new tank.

What is the ph? Do you use Kalkwasser? I notice Ryan’s 60g he uses Kalk and all for reef. How much does he dose? I have 75 g and bought tons of your corals and killed them all. I have began to run my tank just like Ryan’s. Hope all goes well.
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
Ph is around 8.4 and yes we use kalk. Do you need to use kalk, no. It all depends on what your parameters are telling you. Just because someone else is dosing, doesn't mean you should dose as well! Biggest advice and a MUST... is to make sure you have quality test kits. You need to test for nitrates, phosphates, alkalinity, magnesium, and calcium weekly. Based on your results, you'll know what you'd need to do with your tank.

On that huge peninsula you only have flowing coming from the one end, is the flowing moving in a big circle?
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
The flow moves across the whole tank and gently crashes at the end of the tank glass. Give a nice gentle flow through out the whole tank. Not too much like a gyre where it creates more of a "circle" movement.

Hey random question have you guys ever fragged a bubble coral( not BTA) my pink bubble coral is over growing its space so want to frag it, could I use a rubber band to encourage it to split then cut the rock or will that kill it?
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
Hard to say, because we usually don't frag these type of corals. There are some cases where we would frag them though, mostly if it's been harmed and we're trying to save them. The main thing is to make sure you have a plan after you frag them. You need a proper established tank for it to heal, the right equipment, medication to dip, etc. The healing process would be the most important. If it's because it is over growing, you could trying moving it in a hidden empty spot in the tank.

We don't really measure par on these tanks. We know that these LED lights can be pretty powerful. So we just make sure the lights are not bleaching the corals and adjust them to what the corals tell us.

I have had my tank up and running for over 2.5 years and have struggled with many thinks along the way. As of right now I am struggling with PH. It’s 100 gallon mixed reef and I have a refugium with cheato, dos Kalk at night about 500 ML’s and still struggle getting it about 8. I have one gyre up top and two reef octopulse 4’s moving water. I am debating on running CO2 scrubber. What are your though. Display is 100 gallons and sump is 22 gallons.
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
The refugium should help raise it.. we've actually seen reefers connect the air intake from the protein skimmer to take fresh air outside of the tank. All of that should raise the PH, give that protein skimmer trick a try. In the end, if your corals are looking good, i wouldn't stress too much on chasing ph

@JeremyRankin Hey I live in New York and deal with similar issues. I live up high and can’t run a line outside due to pollution. What I do is dose kalk all day. 85 ml’s an hr on a doser and use a recirculating co2 scrubber with my skimmer and also open the windows and to make sure I have a good amount of oxygen in the room I purchased a inkbird co2 monitor for about 50$ on Amazon. With all Of that I’ve gotten my ph to a all time high of 8.2 using a probe to monitor. It used to be 7.8. Goodluck

@@EmpireReefer thank you for the advice I will definitively look at dosing throughout the day for sure. I also have never thought of purchasing a C02 monitor for my house. Hey WWC I has a question ? How many saltwater fish can you keep in a 40 gallon breeder (which actual 47 gallon) reef tank ? Can you keep like 8-15 fish or something like that in the reef tank ?
@123sammy98 Жыл бұрын
Depends on the type & size of fish and on how good your filtration is. 8 tangs or angels would not work as they need area to swim. 8 small fish would probably work tho, just check the needs of the fish you want and you most likely be fine.
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
Depending on the type of fish you have in that tank, some fish does come pretty small. In the end, you just want to use your best judgement because the shape of your tank and the amount of rock scape also plays a role. For a tank that small, you definitely don't want a lot of fish because nutrients will quickly rise as well. We usually see tanks this size have less than 8 small sized fish.
@MinhHieu-ie6eh Жыл бұрын
Oh ok but can you like just has one more small saltwater fish to add in the tank with other 8 small saltwater fish then ?
