I can hear my train in the background. Soon it will be down to my area. I make my own ring compressors since I can. Good work

Alright,I'm neck deep ,got the 2.0 out and removed timing cover to reveal the head and crank still in time but counter balance shafts chain is stretched beyond service limits. Looks like updated tensioner. Thinking about leaving head n. Block alone and retime engine with new chains n putting it BK togather. Any thoughts/cautious ✌️

You provide a wealth of information and experience to all of us. Great work. Quick question. I Have a 2012 2.o tfsi. 110k miles. Now consuming oil. Do you reccomend new conecting rod bearings when doing the piston update? The bearings look ok to good. No scoring, just the wear from 100k.

@@coryjackson6034 Naptown doesn't answer any questions. Part of the reason his channel is not more popular then it is. I have this engine tore apart in my shop right now, came and sat down to watch this video specifically for the torque specs of the bearing caps, then to sit here and watch 11 minutes of it only to hear "I'm not holding your hand" on the one reason I was watching the video in the first place, is asnine on Naptowns part. Yeah I know I could just as easily look them up and now that's what I will do, the point is sometimes you think you can rely on certain channels as your go-to for certain information and sometimes those channels let you down like today. That's how it hurts the popularity of his channel. By not getting the information I needed this time, next time I'm working on this engine I will either just look up the information, or use a different channel to get the information, because I know this one may be unreliable about key information. Who the hell does a video specifically about the pistons and doesn't tell you the one damn thing essential to doing the pistons right! Naptown, that's who! (Unsubscribed) Like it would kill the quy to spend one or two days sitting down, going through all his comments and answering the the hundred or so questions that have been asked. On the contrary, it would increase his views and subscribers 2 fold over time.

Hey Naptown my local sheetz now offers ethanol free 90 octane.. what are your thoughts on putting that in my 2013 B8 2.0 TFSi? Will it hurt the motor with it being lower than 91octane or will the lack of ethanol be better for it in terms of the seals and HPFP? Looking for some advice from anyone thanks!!

If I install new bearings, do I need to take the crankshaft to a machine shop to get cut? Or I can just install them and no issues? I have the oil consumption issue.

Most of the time when an engine is too far gone I just trash it rather than machine work (for the block). I have the machine shop rebuild the cylinder heads. The blocks all get standard size replacement pistons and bearings

@@jrebuilds2 you need to see the crank journals if they are scuffed... the miles has nothing to do w crankshaft condition. I have openes engines where the cylinder head is trash, but the block is good. It is very rare the v crankshaft will suffer, UNLESS it is a manual transmission car.

@@psiturbo I take it you did not view NapTownTuner video on the subject? These VW cylinders are laser etched to specifications by VW. If you hone, or bore, then you are supposed to DUPLICATE the process of VW. Good luck with that. But if you, do over bore, I would highly suggest you watch this video by Total Seal Piston Rings: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qF7UYaKoebaLfLc

@@psiturbo I take it you are talking about a standard rebuild for the masses. I see that the video you provided shows they are boring without a torque plate, they are not even boring off the crankshaft centerline but the pan rail. Thus this shop can’t even ensure bores are correctly centered to the crankshaft, nor can they determine the bores are perfectly round since they are not replicating the distortions caused by torqueing the cylinder head (all of this was explained in the video I linked, and I’ve been doing this a long time myself). Maybe that’s why they have the comments turned off. There are secrets to making power and longevity in a short-block. They are Ring seal. Ring seal. And ring seal. The video you reference has no comments on the cross-hatch or the depth of the machine work. It is a video that has no material. Good luck with your project.

As being an professional this video was very cringeworthy and their are many of things i would have changed about the way you did this job... This being as deep as you could go one should take care to do it properly. The Quality of work will determine the longevity of the repair
