2.1 Stroker WRX Wagon Walkaround

Today I take you on a quick walkaround of my 2004 Subaru WRX Wagon and breakdown everything I've done to it over the years

Please move the front plate.... You're cucking your FMIC airflow. Why in God's name would you use the 205 heads with stock cams... The reason the 207 is special is because of the heads. The bearings from the factory in the 205 or literally the exact same. The bottom end is very very similar. You could have used your 205 case the exact same if you were going to build it for a G25. No need to close deck. I would test to see if your gfb valve is leaking oh, I have seen more leak than not. Turbosmart all the way

I can personally recommend the R180 LSD in the rear AND up front. Also an upgraded viscous centre (12kg). My wagon grips around gravel corners as deftly as a spider.

Love to see custom wagons, we had an 02 wrx bug eye wagon from new, never modified it super fun even stock. Had a 98 2.5RS wrx swap too, never should have sold that 2 door wrx lol, now have a 2014 sti hatch love it!!! Your wagon is so rad, can’t wait to see more of it. Good luck!!!

Replace that lightweight crank pulley with a fluidampr as soon as you can afford it. Highly recommend! Better driveability and a number of other top-tier benefits await.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but you should really remove that 8mm spacer in the front. You’ll slowly kill your diff that way, as each wheel is turning at different rates in hard corners. I went through the same lesson.

Hey i plan to swap in a jdm ej205 into 04 wagon that has a 2.5ts, i have an ecu and warness along with the motor, is there any recommended mods for relability , i dont plan adding much more besides headers an an exhaust, Thx for any help

Aye that is some hot stuff my dude But I am a bit new to this - what does Stroker mean exactly? Been seeing "stroker" in all kinds of builds and still have no idea what that means

Thanks so much! Stroker motors are designed to increase the length of travel the piston has from factory, resulting in a higher displacement overall increasing torque somewhat. There are probably much more in depth functions of a stroker motor but that is why most people do it including myself :)

How did you figure out what offset you needed for your wheels? I have 3” flares and I want a wider stance with little gap and I can’t find any info on how to figure out my needs. I currently have a set of 25mm spacers in the garage with stock Saab wheels for my 02 bugeye wagon.

Very sick build. I'm looking into doing a stroker build myself. Did you have to buy a different ECU for the 207? Would be really neat to see a video of a "checklist" for a stroker build!

Thank you so much! The best part was that I didn't have to purchase an ECU, as I retained my stock USDM 205 heads and just built the valvetrain :)

@@subiesnacksofficial Nice! So you can retain the ECU if you only swap the short block to the 207? That's pretty huge, I was looking at EJ207s but was worried about having to swap ECUs and deal with the wiring nuances between the two.

Awesome job with this build, man. Curious to see how the stroker performs and your thoughts about it after you get it tuned and on the road. What made you decide to go ahead and put in the R180?

Thank you! I'm definitely curious myself and will have a better idea of how it functions after the tune in the upcoming weeks. At the beginning, driving with the R160 was fine and nothing was wrong with it. Now that I'm closer to making power, I wanted DCCD hooked up to utilize the full STI drivetrain for a better driving experience as well as keeping the power balanced. I also wanted to do the Brembo/5x114 conversion so its easier to find wheels and whatnot :)

nice wagon! How much was the custom rotated turbo kit? Why didn't go off-the-shelf kit (E.g ETS)? I'm on the fence buying a rotated kit, not sure to go custom or of the shelf.

Thank you! Custom turbo kits can vary in price depending on a lot of factors (Material used, Type of welding done, amount of welding, etc). I decided to go with a custom rotated kit because I work at a company that manufactures automotive components for fabricators. Since I work in the Marketing department, it would be a good idea for me to create content about our product along the way. I would have gone with an OTS kit, however I also wanted a 1 of 1 unique setup that fits perfectly onto my car :)

Where does the fuel filter tap in to?

It is an inline fuel filter that replaces the stock one on the car. It is a direct replacement and taps right into the oem fuel lines
