Just thought I would fill in some blanks about the 22B. The paint code used is 74F and was called sonic blue as opposed to rally blue in North America under the same paint code. Though sharing the same paint code often these cars when sitting side by side, some slight differences can be noticed. The engine block is a bored out EJ20G from the version 1-2 WRX but the turbo is a VF24 from the version 4. The hood is aluminum and the original windshield glass is thinner to save weight which is the same on the Type R and RA. The steering wheel is made by Nardi and was found on version 1-3 WRXs and a few early version 4s. The 22B was made to commemorate 40 years of Subaru while the Type RA V-Limited models (numbered run of 555) were made to commemorate the third consecutive manufacturers win. These cars share some features with the 22B but come with the roof vent, V-Limited badging, and version 4 STi RA powertrain. It also seems as though some of the parts commonly found on the 22B may have been available as options at the dealer such as the hood vents. Sources: Have owned a couple 98 Type RA V-Limiteds and have done a lot of reading on the Type-RA website. & Smart people who have corrected me on some points in the comments below. ;)

This was also the same time that they switched to the updated dash style as seen in this 22B. The version 4 Momo has slightly rounder edges while version 5 and on have slightly squared edges at 9 and 3 where your thumbs go. Only know this tidbit because I bought a version 5 wheel as a spare thinking it was the same but turned out to be slightly different.

It was always either the WRX, Evo VIII or the R34 that were my mainstays for most racing games, especially in Gran Turismo. The Evo was usually the most affordable, so that got the most work done and was usually modified to be the fastest, and the WRX of course was always the rally option until you unlocked and bought the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak which then basically blew every car out of the water in most of the game. 😂
@MarioGoatse Жыл бұрын
You were born in the 80s weren’t you? I know because you just described exactly how I played the exact same game. I bet there’s a lot of us here lol. By the way. Remember how fast that Escudo went? It would glitch out and go insane!
@navtektv Жыл бұрын
@@MarioGoatse Yeah, '89 but still eighties. The Escudo was like a cheat car once you unlocked it. I remember me and my older brother just pulling all nighters in endurance races on GT2 with the Escudo, and just lapping the last two cars over and over again until we lost count. Good times.

@@navtektv Hahaha same here. I remember the first time I played it and I was tripping on those TVR cars. The graphics looked so great back then, but you look back now and think “I swear they looked much better!”

I was always under the impression they made those cars special because WRC rules mandated that in order to use a platform in races, it had to sell at least 400 production units to qualify for the group they were entering.

Not for you to decide lol, every decade this happens when the cars from 30 years before start skyrocketing in value as all the people who were teens at the time hit their 50's and actually have the money to get the cars they always wanted

It's cool. As a subbie fan, I'll be the first (or 789th) to admit this isnt worth the asking price. Let's be honest, LCE will sell you a fully decked out sport quattro for less. It's faster, more fun, sounds better, handles better and is cooler.

Yeah people put value on weird stuff. Nothing said makes that a $300,000 car save for people telling others it’s worth that much. People paying over $60,000 for Supras with over 140,000 miles. Importing old clunker Skylines from Japan and such. None of these cars are worth the money people pay for them. And you can’t even say the engines. We have far, far, far better engines and crate motors today than back in the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. It’s I always watch the videos of seeing what people paid for these cars and how they lost money on the resell. And I assume many realize they’ve paid high end sport, muscle and low end exotic car money. For an old Subaru just to say they have it.

I have a funny story about the 22B. I was at V 4&Rotary Auckland NZ and there was one in the show area. But after standing around the car and admiring it for ten minutes, I noticed it was going entirely, completely unnoticed. Nobody even knew it was special, didn't see a single person look at it twice. Fascinating that this car, at least in 2011 at that show, completely flew under the radar. Not saying the 22b isn't special, but it's interesting that it can fly under the radar as "another subie" like that. Perhaps, as this was in 2011 when boxer imprezas and legacy's were at their cheapest and most abundant and perhaps apathy toward subarus due to exposure of noise polluting loud subies in my countryman was why the subaru 22b went unnoticed that day.

The first car I ever bought with my own money in 1993 right after USAF Tech School was a 1993 Subaru Impreza Wagon for 12K. First year the Impreza was in the USA. It was cool to me, but not to anyone else. Traded it in 2000 for a 2000 Maxima 5 speed MT for 1k. Honestly the Impreza was a piece of shit. The Maxima was awesome and in my opinion was the last great Maxima.
