I had a 2007 STI, it was quick but too soft (shifter slop, driveline slop, turbo lag). After some mods (Ecu tune, upipe, down pipe, headers(unequal length to keep that rumble), shifter kit, driveline bushings) put down 322 hp 390 ft tq, at the wheel on an 85 degree day on the stock exhaust. Totally different character from the original, with 245 tires it was a mid-top end champ, more of a muscle car than a precise sports car. It doesn’t have much luxury amenities and with the headers, it gets loud on the highway. It’s all about the fun factor, steering was telepathic, 20-100 mph run always put a smile on my face. Looking back I think I would have kept the iron header for less drone and opt for a hi flow cross header pipe. I wish I could’ve kept it but 2 years ago I bought a used 2015 E63 with a renntech headers & tune (700 hp) its a lot faster than the STI bit not nearly s nimble or fun. If you are getting one, go for the 04 or 07(USA ) the o6 had cooling issues with the cylinder next to the turbo. The 07 fixed it & added a torsen rear diff, 4th & 5th gear was taller (finish the 1/4 mile in 4th instead of 5th with better trap speed).

Really enjoyed this vid, thanks! My vote for best ever Scooby is the blob-eye Spec C Type RA. Mechanical rear LSD, ball bearing twin scroll (factory 22psi), quick rack, factory lowered w adjustable dampers, much lighter, much stiffer, etc. The greatest "drivers" impreza imo, the last before electronic driver aids. Biased, because I own one of the 300 that were ever made :)
@174730392 жыл бұрын
The adjustable dampers were a STI pink catalogue item and NOT standard. Only S202, S203 and S204 newage had adjustable dampers from factory. Not even the RA-R had adjustable dampers be default (I've seen 2 RA-R's now both had standard red struts) I'd argue the S202 is the most hardcore car as it was based off the lightest Spec C (The Type RA Spec C bugeye) but with every STI pink catalogue box ticked, PLUS the titanium exhaust system... The later S203 and S204 were base STI cars with a roof vent and full pink catalogue, and so were actually really heavy.

That was ace. My old Mk 1 Impreza Turbo 2000 is my favourite car I've ever owned (1998 model bought in around 2001). Not all-singing, all-dancing like the STi but it was still an absolute hoot to drive.

Great review and to the point. Australia got the same version as in the UK and im lucky to own one in WR Blue with the last of the EJ207.

Well then you're a fool for not gettin what you like more , especially since this generation is cheaper than the 2019 , you got no excuse
@Blanco_SubieForester4 жыл бұрын
alexilaiho321 I said i like this body style better but i didn’t say it was a better overall car! This model does have the cheapest interior, ugly dashboard, cheap breaks and ugly wheels. Plus i know lots of people that have this model wish they had my model year, but It’s not about the money, i didn’t want something that had a bunch of miles or mods on it, overall the older models ride like shit. Compared to mines! The raer and side view is what i like but its not better than mines!

I Have the Exact same colour and spec subaru as this one ( 2005 Model) Had it for 5 Years . The feeling you get when driving it can only be expressed the way Matt was laughing and giggling when its on Song in the video, I could really understand why he was doing that!. Its a truly amazing machine in this day of anodine hyper fast hot hatches with no character or feel!

Love my widetrack! Quickest way to get to 60 is launch in second (how Subaru got their 0-60 time of 4.5/4.6 seconds). Next time turn in the rev beeps and red light, it’s half the fun!
