2 3 Lo-V MAGIC MONDAY! Happy Birthday NY Subway!

Sunday Oct 27, 2019 was the New York Subway's 115th birthday! And it was awesome! I rode the local 2 from South Ferry, changed at 14th st for the 3 train to 42nd (leaving from the DOWNTOWN platform) and then rode from 42nd st Times Square to 96th st on the NY Transit Museum's Lo-V nostalgia train. AND I saw the abandoned 91st st station on the way there! Good times.

The 2 ran to South Ferry due to Sandy repairs between June 2017 and June 2018. In 1919, most 2 trains went to South Ferry. That's a cool nostalgia train

the "lo-v" were so-called because the current which flowed through the motorman's controls wasn't the full 600V that powered the train like with the "hi-v" types. this eliminated the risk the motorman faced of electrocution if the controller was slightly faulty and sparked.

I once took a 5 train from dyre ave which was a 2 train on the inside. the automated annoucer and strip map showed/announced stops that didn't match the big platform station name signs outside for every stop until we got to 180th st. but it said 5 on the outside. did I say we left dyre ave?
