Can someone please explain why acid washed sand and anhydrous MgSO4 are used in the preparation of the extract of this kind of chromatography.
@hotpepper77824 жыл бұрын
Well my bio teacher said the acid washed sand was just there to make the grinding process easier about the anhydrous MgSO4 idk y it's there.

What’s the significance and use of Rf value?
@evelynt.britos28634 жыл бұрын
After determining Rf, what’s next? Does it end in finding the Rf? Thanks.
@martajackson114 жыл бұрын
Hi, biology student here! From what I know, the Rf value is one of the methods you have to distinguish between the several photosynthetic pigments you can find on a leaf. You can also identify the pigments just by looking at their color. Basically if you have a Rf value close to 1, that means that the pigment moved quite a lot and it was abel to do that since it a polar pigment. If on the contrary you have a low Rf value, that means that the pigment didn't move that much and thus has non polar groups in its constitution. Please correct me if I am wrong
@xyrildanmanuel7832 жыл бұрын
hi chemistry student here. the Rf value is one of the information we use to pinpoint what the pigment might potentially be. chemists around the world do this chromatography on initially known compounds and they share and confirm the Rf values they have obtained in a database (or multiple databases like the one presented at the end of the video) so that future analysts would have a reference when repeating the same chromatography on the same compound. think of it like a pseudo-fingerprint of a certain compound although i believe not all compounds have unique Rf values

It allows you to get a measurement for 5G or 3G radiation frequencies. That way, you can gauge how thick your tinfoil needs to be in order to block those signals
