I prefer to use a gradient of saturation to give the artistic softness of subsurface while saving a lot of render time

Can you elaborate what you men by "gradient of saturation"?

@@novmikvis here's what I think what he does : Say he has a texture map for the face. He'll create a mask for it with a gradient along or near the boundary of the face. Then he'll use the mix node to mix the original face texture and a saturated version of the same texture. So it's basically face map + saturated face map in the mix node, with the mask plugged in the factor. And then he can use a color ramp on the mask to control the intensity of the 'fake' subsurface look.

@@AyushSharma-hx9sw Thats interesting, I was looking for a half decent Subsurf Scattering effect that is less noisy and works quicker. So with Gradient at the boundary of the face you mean by creating a mask with Layer Weight?

I am subsurface scattering bread. The "pink" looks bad for bread. I changed the radius, but why on earth did they not have a color wheel for that?
