The subsurface radius is the *distance* that the different color channels will travel through the object, not really the amount of scattering.
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender Жыл бұрын
Very true 👍 But the greater is the distance, the higher is the amount of scattering I guess, probably that's why we casually said it is the amount. Do you think it is right, or not? 🤔
@darrenberkey7017
@darrenberkey7017 Жыл бұрын
@@5MinutesBlender - In reality, you are correct that light does indeed scatter more over distance, but it also attenuates, and in Blender, the amount of scattering is consistent once the light enters the subsurface object, but that scattering stops (attenuates) at the distance set by the radius values. So, if you want the scattering to go further into the object, you increase the radius, or the distance. If you crank up the radius values to really high numbers, like 50 or even 100 (you can manually type any number past 100 though) it will allow light to fill the entire object, even without increasing the intensity of the light source. The Blender online manual also says this about the radius setting: *"Average distance that light scatters below the surface. Higher radius gives a softer appearance, as light bleeds into shadows and through the object."*

Hi. I have an object where i want to see bones through skin. Is it possible? Thanks!
@5MinutesBlender

Yes. In that case, add a semi-transparent material for the skin.

how do you get this effect to work correctly when using a World scale of 0.001 Millimeter scale, what do you need to set the sub surface to ? Everyone seems to use Metres I have not seen any information on millimeter scale
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender Жыл бұрын
I never tried with such a small scale, but I should tell you that many things in Blender do not work as intended if you use a very small scale. We may tend to believe that changing the scale has nothing to do with the internal working principles, it is just the entire scene getting proportionately bigger or smaller. But in reality, Blender works with specific thresholds in many places and it needs a minimum absolute value. I realized this very late and since then I always create my objects in larger scales. For example, cloth physics behaves weird if the cloth size is too small (a one cm long cloth does not respond to wind force equally as a one meter long cloth would do).

very nice , coloring or shading seems most toughest part for me, there are so many nodes how , when and which node should be used , i always get puzzled
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender 2 жыл бұрын
The way I learned about them, is by using them in many places, and experimenting with the result. The nodes are very well grouped under Shader, Texture, Vector, Converter etc. With time, you will gain a heuristic knowledge that will be your ultimate guide. You will automatically know which nodes will help you in which place. I will cover this in one tutorial - not the purpose of each node - but how to discover which set of nodes to use for any given problem. I think it will help many.

@@5MinutesBlender Yes please, I am feeling confident in the blender due to your videos. I am dead sure after watching your shading or nodes videos I will feel comfortable in that field also.

Many years back when I started with Blender, I think I almost felt like you. It needs some time, and a lot of practice. Then you will automatically get a hint what to try, which nodes to use, and you can discover the node setup on your own, sometimes taking little bit clue from others. If today I came here starting from zero, one day you will also do well, no doubt in that! All the very best bro 👍

Bro i want to make videos like " efficient engineering" (a KZbin channel) How can i make like that videos. How to draw graphs and animations?
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender 2 жыл бұрын
It seems to be slide sharing and some plain 2D graphics. Not much of animation (please give me specific example if you have any, I only took a cursory glance). More than Blender, you will probably need some 2D text animation software & photoshop. Blender also has a 2D animation module. It should be easy to pickup.

not working with Cycles
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender 2 жыл бұрын
Sad to hear that. As far as I have seen, there is a huge difference between Eevee and Cycles in how they handle subsurface. You can say that Cycles takes subsurface too seriously (if that helps to describe the issue). We need to add just a little bit of subsurface for an accurate result in Cycles (which won't be even noticeable if you render it in Eevee). I hope this helps. If not, I would request you to kindly send your blend file to us. We will investigate and help you to resolve this issue. You can get our Email ID in the comments section of this channel. Thanks!

Really, nobody complains about Subsurface Radius does not have a field for distance input? I see no reason to that RBG field.
