If you're interested in giving your peace lily a treat, put the pot into a plastic bag (like a trash bag), and close it loosely around the base of the plant (where it meets the soil) then pop it in the shower (get the water tepid, first) for a couple of minutes. The bag will help to hold the soil in place, and the shower will remind the plant of a lovely summer rainstorm. Plants love it!

I'm really enjoying these videos, I'm 50 so not too far behind you age wise and also live alone. Only got my own place 3 years ago after looking after my mother for over a decade with dementia. I'm happy with my own company most of the time but am not a recluse, can be very sociable. Pottering in your own home is priceless.

Definitely looks better with the tins of fish in the cupboard, and I turn my peace lily around every so often when it looks like it is leaning too much to one side🤣 If you haven't noticed anything negative from the little bit of milk that is great😄 Are you testing any other foods out as yet? I think you mentioned wanting to try garlic🤔 I like the idea of the post-it notes for meal and snack ideas. That would also be good for meal planning - just put a few in a line for the next few day's worth of meals👍

I totally agree about the news, I've not had a telly for years and years and don't listen to the radio either... I don't mind the silence at all. I almost find adverts worse than news lol. I think for me, I like these sort of chatty videos as it's like catching up with a friend.... but you seem to not listen to a word I say😉. You and the vic are good viewing too. But I also like craft and art videos and especially pottery... History is good too. I would stay at home if I could but I have to work at the moment as a support worker so go to peoples homes to help and support them .... but its often a few mins after leaving home and all the angst and road rage out there I just want to go back home again.... I feel like the world has changed since the 70's or maybe its just me. I always try to remember to notice the beauty out there even if its 'just' moss in the crack of the pavement

Hey Rick, I know it may be too personal a topic, but I’d be very interested to hear about your love life history and what has led you to a life of solitude. Long time viewers would enjoy that peek into your life and I’m sure it would resonate with a lot of men in the world bringing in a whole different chunk of audience. Those sort of videos go viral so could be a nice boost.

I'm really enjoying these videos Rick. In fact as another viewer commented, I realised I was watching the diet videos not so much for the content - I'm veggie!) but for the chat! So these musings are great. Perhaps even slightly ASMR? But far more interesting than listening to just sounds 😁 Keep them coming please! I think the experience of listening is more important for viewers than the topic? But possible topics might be: changing interests and outlook as people age, pets? People, books, teachers that have influenced you, fave artists? Your garden. I dunno, just some thoughts. But thank you for these videos: Pools of tranquility in a hard world.

I'm using this account much more than my old nature/wildlife account now i have subbed again, i hope that is ok. I am so enjoying these pottering videos, they are so relaxing & i am finding myself really looking forward to them. I thought your description of being an introvert was exactly factual. I am a 60 yr old introvert, an ex special needs teacher & as i get older, i find i need much longer periods of recovery alone time (healing, refresh, renew time) and the amount of time i can spend in the company of others is diminishing. Only other introverts appear to understand that it is a physical thing as well as a mental thing. You could be having your best day ever in the company of another/others but your battery is draining fast to the point that all i can think about is escaping to be alone. That is the only cure & without it i cannot function, at all. I had to stop watching the carvivore videos, i'm so sorry but i found them quite stressful which is something i have never felt from watching your channels right from the allotment days years ago.Thats my fault not yours btw. I have lways enjoyed your content Rick. I love when Rick & The Vic meet up & find myself laughing out loud, its fantastic 👏👏👏 I dont comment very often, but i felt i wanted to say i really do enjoy these calming pottering videos. Thanks Rick for keeping us informed of your decisions and how you are doing! Now it' sounds like a waiting game before things will be addressed. As long as you are doing okay and not in pain, that is fantastic! Well, I must say, I never thought I would be watching anyone pack their sardines away, make a cup of coffee, and dust a plant! lol....I liked the suggestions some made about perhaps talking about your plans for the summer, perhaps taking up a hobby, travel, home reno, new fitness ideas, that sort of thing. I am also an introvert, a great lover of books, and perhaps a discussion about recent books you have read and what you learned? All while going for a nice walk? Sean James seems to have had great success with his views by switching up his content, talking about his plans, his struggles and triumphs, things he has learned, his plans for the future, his life philosophy, and the history of his life/area as he returned to Wales. Richard Vobes went the complete opposite by deep diving into subversive politics, which frankly, I don't care for... I 100% agree with you that the mainstream media and politics are designed to keep people afraid, hopeless, and in fear. I stopped watching news years ago for the very same reasons you stated. It caused me a lot of anxiety about things that I had absolutely zero control over. I dip in every once and a while to trusted sources for updates, but I largely prefer to listen to music, learn about other cultures and gardening (The Newby's, Leave Everything and Wander (LEAW), Sean James, Tony C Smith, JB Naturally, Colette O'Neal at Bealtaine Cottage), armchair travel (I love NHK by the way!), & health (Dr. J. Campbell, Dr. Saneel Dhand, Qigong Meditation) and cooking....

Hi Rick well this video was great but you guilt tripped me, I have an identical peace plant and it deffo needed it’s leaves dusting. So as you were doing yours I was doing mine at the same time it was like doing it with you. I do have two flowers at the moment, the white petal is actually a white leaf to attract insects into the middle yellow bit to pollinate. The white leaf turns green after a bit. I know what you mean re the news and have really stressed out over it recently but I’m going to follow your example and give it up. I enjoy your vids whatever the subject I hope the gall bladder prob settles again soon treat it well and it will be fine. xx

Hi Norma, glad to hear your peace lily got a simultaneous service 😂 Two flowers on the same plant? That’s great, mine only ever produces one flower every few years. Maybe I should feed it 🤔 One of the biggest things I noticed when giving up the news was the very distinct and noticeable decrease in anxiety and stress in my general day-to-day living. I highly HIGHLY recommend quitting the news at the earliest opportunity! 😊👍❤️

If I'm being honest, Rick, personally I go 1.5x through any cleaning segments and talk of diets because the diet thing is in almost every video and it does wear out. The cleaning stuff gives me ideas but it also makes me feel bad about my own house :( I swear yours at its worst is better than mine at its best. It's good to an extent but maybe over-worn. But all that said I still ♥ the videos and will continue to watch no matter what you do!

Rick, you said to challenge you with questions. So, here you go. What was your reason in starting the 90 day challenge, to do carnivore? What were your goals in doing so? Have you met 90 days? Did carnivore meet your goals in 70 days? Do you think recovery from a lifetime of addiction, and renewal of your health and mental state can be met in 70 days? You stated your goal was to kick your addiction to sugars--“for life”. What are carbs? Why would you want to introduce “some carbs”… some of the thing that has caused you trouble all your life? Just a little poison…. As I have said, before, I have worked with addicts for 15 years. I’m an addict myself. And the best way to fall off the wagon to relapse is to start playing games, with yourself. Making excuses for why you need to take your preferred substance. For some it is pills, because they are in pain… yet in fact, the pain doesn’t leave when they take the pills! Instead the rest of their lives falls apart. Or we decide we are cured and can now handle our favorite substance now… say an alcoholic decides they can handle a beer at night. Just one. Or maybe they have a really bad cold and “have” to take this cold medicine that has alcohol in it, and they are sure they can handle it, now now that they have been sober for 6 weeks. They are anxious to get back to their “ old life”. But that life was the one that was making them miserable. They wanted to change their life when they went into recovery. You wanted to change your life when you decided on this course of recovery. And you were succeeding! Find a work around the gallbladder. You are a clever guy, you can do it. There are carnivore videos on the gallbladder, you could write to Dr Berry or the other doctors for answers. Isn’t it true that when you were eating sugars and carbs and all of that, you still had the gallbladder trouble? The carbs didn’t help your gallbladder. Why would they help now? Why would you feed a gallbladder and cater to one part of your body and sacrifice the rest that was healing? Dabbling in your addictive behavior Never never never never works. Look up David Elmore Smith. Please remember what your goals were. Don’t let yourself down. Again. Let this be the day that you determined to improve yourself- to stop expecting different outcomes from the same behavior . You are worth it. You are worth keeping your word to yourself and not chalking up another one on the side of failure. Just do the 90 days- pick it back up and do the 90 days.

Thanks for the great comments and observations, definitely words of wisdom and experience there. At the moment I have found myself straddling two worlds; one, where I use fat for energy instead of carbohydrates, the other where I try to supplement lower Energy levels with limited carbs because of reduced fat intake due to the dodgy gallbladder. It feels like a bit of a catch 22 at the moment, but I will figure something out 😊👍❤️

I have to say I agree with everything said here... Addiction is cunning and very devious. Dull ache? There are plenty of people without gall bladders who do well on carnivore... You also have supporters of your channel who encourage you to give up. Not surprised you are disappearing into your own bubble... What tiny carbs are you using?

Like you I gave up watching or listening to news a year ago for the same reasons. I am hanging on to my resilience and not prepared to live in fear and anxiety. If I could make a difference, I would, and am happy to share and sign petitions, but otherwise I prefer to take people as I find them rather than have an intermediary modify what impressions I get. As to content, I would really love to see you learn some piano pieces and play: not many people seem to play piano nowadays so that would be something unique to your channel. But perhaps that is asking too much!!

Thanks for the great comments, indeed that’s exactly what the news does, it acts like a middleman to warp your perceptions into something more prescribed, propaganda at its most fundamental. Thanks for the suggestion, I could knock out the occasional tune, but I usually tend to be quite reluctant about inflicting that onto others 😂😂

They are mostly the Sainsbury’s own brand. Sardines are definitely not as nice as mackerel, so I tend to add a tin of mackerel as well to change up the flavours a bit The mackerel in flavoured sauces is very good, even though I wash the sauce off, it still leaves enough of the flavour to make everything more palatable 😊👍

well, rick, at least you have to know that the queen passed away last year. you've got a king now. you can share how you feel about the royals if you like unless you feel it's too political too.

Several years ago, you made some videos about leaving the rat race. I am curious to know if you would change how you did it if you went back to the past. I am also interested in the disadvantages, if any, of your way of living. Hope this helps you find something to talk about. If not, feel free to graciously avoid it. 😁

birds of a feather flock together. it seems a bunch of introverts got attracted to your channel, myself included. what you describe, however, is a secondary expression of the original mental process jung had in mind. i find your thought process to be rather externally oriented. you love gadgets, can't meditate, and you've fully adopted external social norms. even if you're an extrovert, it's to a very mild degree. the fact that social interactions exhaust you, i'd attribute to your extreme sensitivity. you constantly feel the need to protect yourself. that's what causing your health problems too. i find i have a similar problem. i'm a bit too perceptive for my own good. disclaimer: just sharing my opinion. thought it'd be interesting. apologies if it's too personal and intrusive.

Wouldnt it just be better to stick to the fish (you seemed to do really well on it) but lay off the extra fat, ie no butter and cheese? Give youre body a good clear out, you dont really need the extra fats while you are in the weight loss stage of these kind of diets, i bet youre blood test results will be interesting after 70 odd days of carnivore 🙂

Thanks for the comments. At the moment it’s a question of Energy, reduced fat intake is also reducing energy levels, hence trying to add a small number of carbs back in purely for limited Energy supplementation. 😊👍❤️

To be fair, a lot of the big keto/carnivore KZbinrs now recommend a small amount of carbs, and occasionally doing carb cycles
