Many of us don't know about a lot of things but should we then just accept whenever someone claims something without evidence and accept his claim as truth? What if the claims are contradictory? What if the claims made by the single person is contradictory? How would you even accept contradictory statements and accept both of them as truth, only can be true or both are false. But, then religious people are not doing very different. They don't know whether God/s exists but choose to believe in such being's existence. No one knows whether the almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster really exists but, then does everyone believes in it's existence? Even Most to almost all religious people would not believe in such a being's existence. But they don't have any knowledge about it. But still conclude that "I don't know therefore it must not exist". Most religious people apply this kind of logic for every religion that is not their own. And then no evidence is presented by religious people for their claim of God.

I am an agnostic atheist with Neo-Buddhist background and have no issues in visiting a temple/church/mosque or partaking in a ritual that I have been invited to be a part of. Kashyap makes decent sense to me. Also, Beerbiceps should stop posturing himself as 'India's smartest podcast' cuz it isnt. And why this insistence on becoming Rogan of India? Just do your thing bro. Have smarter questions to ask! And also start calling it an interview show rather than a podcast. I remember in the early days I saw one of his shows where he was talking to some dude and his simplistic understanding of the world really amazed me. Besides taking pride in random Bharatiya things, on one instance he was saying " I am a capitalist". In another, he said "some people call themselves atheist to sound cool". I mean the dude is so out of touch that it was painful to watch. I am all for free markets(with regulations) but to call yourself a capitalist or even a communist for that matter shows that you really havent learnt anything about what has happened in the past 100 years. Additionally, he had no clue that people have paid with their lives by going against god(both in India and overseas). Atheists are not in power in any nation. It is my assertion that people of x religion might vote for candidate of y religion before voting for z, an atheist. Atheist are generally considered estranged even in their families. But apparently he makes up his world view by assessing the response of two of his interns who might have said that they are atheist to sound "cool". In a middle class family your family members who are in different fields than you might just open doors for you to get a privileged access to some avenue you may have not gotten access to 1 way or the other. So it's not as easy as saying, "Nhi lagaunga" because you're closing a door on you. For a businessman like me it's essentially me saying, "If you value your religion, do not buy from my shop because I don't wish to partake in your beliefs and somehow I am challenging those core beliefs" which is how they interpret those actions (I have done something similar and now I am facing repercussions of it)

I feel you brother. Even though I have made it clear numerous times that I don't believe in any god I still have to participate in religious ceremonies with my family, but I make my intentions clear to them that I am doing it because I am being coerced and not because I want to. But it's not so bad as I only have to face it every holi-diwali and not on a regular basis. The same situation goes with colleagues but I don't participate as much as I do with my parents because it doesn't matter that much. My girlfriend is religious too, and so is her family and she has told her family that I am "not so religious", which is a huge understatement. I am yet to see how my future in laws react to my irreligiousity, I hope it's not too bad.

I don't support rituals. Relatives call me to their functions which includes hawan but I don't sit in that (I know in and outs of hawans as I used to live in Arya Samaj hostel for 10 months). If they insist me on participating, then i loose my guns and teach them philosophical and science behind them. I prove them hawan are useless in today's climate when CO2 is more than 400 ppm and AQI is more than 200 for most months here in north India. I'm strictly against superstition even if no one is asking me to participate in that. Even Buddhism, Jainism were Naastik (not believing into Vedas which git notorious because of God part getting famous in masses)

I will respect other's wishes if the 'other' respects mine. Period. No, it doesn't mean that I would start disrespecting this 'other' or their faith or belief. It's just I would care less. Don't expect if it's a majority follows and this 'other' expects by default that I have to agree upon their wishes is the most stupid thing I have been witnessing since my boyhood. When this 'other' already has a majority to validate their faith, wishes, or beliefs then how one person like me having different views would offend, shatter, and disvalue the formers!! I mean if I discard, disregard, disobey, and disbelieve with respect then respect my opinion too. Why get offended? It shows how insecure this 'other's' faith and belief is, and how it requires so much validation from someone like me. I disagree that you can't be a hindu and an atheist. Hinduism is the only religion that had the concept of astik and nastik. There were many hindu saints and common people who didn't believe in any particular god but believed in the ideas of Hinduism or hindu dharma. They were the nastiks. So it's definitely possible to be an atheist and still follow the teachings of Hinduism that do not involve any religious rituals. Most of those teachings are about morality and stuff. All in all I'm just saying that Hinduism isn't just the god stuff. It's more than that. I myself am an atheist but I enjoy participating in several religious traditions not because there's any religious sentiments behind it but just because they are fun. Like lighting a diwali diya doesn't directly mean that I believe in Ram. Just means I like lighting diyas and how beautiful it looks when i arrange them in certain ways. Obviously I wouldn't encourage castist or sexist traditions, but I would also not take it too seriously.

I have just watched some of the videos on your channel and Vimoh's. Your videos are great when they are debunking the unscientific claims. Here are my views about the overall vibes of this video and some of the others I have watched. I will make clear my own views on the issue of God subsequently. In this video, in particular, the title of the video was misleading because your reaction to the beer biceps video was just a small part of your overall reaction. I understand that you guys are KZbinrs just like BeerBiceps is - this may be your "bread and butter" - and you need to market your content a certain way so that it is distributed more widely to the audience via the algorithms. I don't mind KZbinrs criticizing the ideas presented by other KZbinrs to point out potential flaws in reasoning, but I am a little suspicious of those who focus solely on others to make their case because it appears to me as a game of "one-upmanship" rather than encouraging true critical dialogue and debate around the topics in question. While the other videos I saw were not marketed that way, I had the feeling that the videos presented their views such that it left me with the impression that your main intention was to criticize people with religious beliefs rather than acknowledge that atheism exists on a spectrum of beliefs about a supernatural person where's an ardent theist argues that God must exist whereas an atheist argues that God is only a human conception (again I don't think it would be right to characterize a whole group of atheists in the same way but I'm trying to talk about the idea itself and not the category of individuals who endorse it unless they all endorse the same definition of atheism/theism). My personal beliefs are in a supernatural entity that exists outside the human conception and hence cannot be reasoned about as we do about physical objects in this material universe. I guess that broadly aligns with pantheistic views of nature. As someone mentioned in the comments, mathematicians like Godel with his incompleteness theorems or Mandelbrot with his Mandelbrot set have showcased how there are fundamental limits to human reasoning, and I get a sense of the divine in that unknowable or even in the way the universe at large and planet Earth itself with all its beings has manifested. Scientists like Stephen Hawking have criticized that, and I'm perfectly ok with that. If you even query LLMs like ChatGPT (as I did), you're likely to see that they will highlight that there isn't a broad consensus on whether God exists or not. That's why the response is "for individuals to adhere to their own belief systems". Amongst the spectrum of beliefs, I find agnosticism to be the most "intellectually humble" stance because it does not deny or assert the existence of God. But even theists, like myself, can make religion their own personal affair and seek community by following many others without making "religion their business". My theistic views guide my perceptions about the world around me, sure, but that's not the only aspect of me as an individual. In general, I would encourage audiences to listen to a diverse set of KZbinrs for these matters before they form their own opinions. For theists specifically, I would encourage them to form their own views of God or subscribe to whatever religion they wish to subscribe to after critically analyzing whatever scriptures form the basis of that religion or ideas discussed by the preachers. Not all preachers are "evil people" and all followers are "sheeple", there may be ideas of value to you in the teachings or even entire philosophies themselves. The main problem in society is surrendering yourself to the people who fool in the name of religion. And yes, any one view on the religious spectrum cannot dominate the governance of human societies. Be true to secularism as God and religion are seperate from governance, and should not become tools to wield power, the way a couple of religious leaders have done. Even then, others like the Dalai Lama are willing to criticize the words of the Buddha and change their views if invalidated by modern science.
