Hey you two! Phil and Michelle Mavis here. We just wanted to saw congratulations at your R2AK adventure! You did a helluva lot more than many sailors we know! Just casting off and making it up to McNeil (especially through Jonstone Straight is a feat in itself) with the bare necessities gets huge respect from us! Kayleen, you raced with us on one of our earliest races at MBYC when we thought we’d give racing a try in a Catalina 30. We very quickly realized how disheartening it is to watch the fleet disappear as we tried to grind out whatever we could from a non race boat. To see that you persevered to the northern end of the island is a HUGE WIN! Well done! Perhaps as R2AK gets more notoriety and more participants, maybe they will form some more competitive divisions to make it interesting for more than just the fast boats. I think your adventure would have been so much more fun if you were slogging it out with more boats like yours. I think that as the speedy race boats continue to dominate and win, perhaps the organizers will see this. Thank you for posting the video. We got a taste of the adventure and could totally relate to your thought process as the race wore on. ***a little side note of caution…nothing will be the racer out of you than cruising. Michelle and I find no joy anymore sitting becalmed in the rain for hours or beating into ugly seas under the cover of darkness especially when our boat doesn’t compete. We love our lifestyle now and live vicariously through people like yourselves! Can’t wait for your next adventure!

Very well documented and very fun to watch. You two kept it real. I'm planning on having my santana 35 in baha this winter. If you want a cold weather break, come on down. Deffinently more chill then you just did! Take good care.😊

Really enjoyed watching this, made us laugh. Been wondering how you'd got on. Would sail/cave/row/drink beer with you two anywhere. It's about the journey not the destination.

it takes real women to realize it's not just about strength and endurance there's so much emotion that goes into these races and sailing in general most people cannot put themselves in those positions. There is a lot of fear out there in the water no matter what size boat you been on. What an amazing pair you are I have laughed hysterically with you and I hope you do something together again soon. Thank you for allowing Us to come with you on this journey

I have never seen a rowing machine attached to the back of a boat used to row an actual boat, lol.
