I honestly have to disagree on the side of the Hue system. Yes it is more expensive but it is also supported on the Zigbee system so I don’t have to “sync my lights” with an app by turning on and off my light switch in order to sync and having a flashing light indicator and if I turn it off and on it doesn’t disconnect which is great for families with kids who may play with the lights and so on. And their is a giant span of products for outside and inside as well as the theater system set up and it is the best for all different smart home voice control systems. I would honestly relook at the Hue system and don’t down play it for it’s price. It is expensive especially getting started but in ways of quality, longevity, reliability, and simplicity and a completely cohesive ecosystem I think it’s one of the best out there. Just my opinion. Also with the exception of the Meross system I’ve tried all the others along with the Govee system and the Sengled system and honestly Hue still comes out on top also for coming back on after power outages as well no need to resync and set up your system thanks to Zigbee.

If the light bulb is too large, (3:29), the "harp" (the metal wire the lampshade mounts on) can be removed from most lamps to change the light bulb. Grasp harp near the bottom close to the on/off switch and squeeze as you lift upward to remove the harp from the harp saddle, change the light bulb, then reverse the process to replace the harp in the harp saddle.

Personally I love my Hue lights. I have both Hue lights and Globe smart bulbs and I've had nothing but trouble with the Globe ones - they keep randomly disconnecting and needing to be re-paired. For me having the main Hue hub is fantastic - it's one access point that the bulbs connect to rather than having each individual bulb connected.

My 2 cents: I notice the same different hues with Fiet (non-Homekit) lights having different colors between the app and what google home changes them to. Also different hues using google with the Fiet and VOCOlinc bulbs. The merros bulbs, well once I chose a color in HomeKit it didn't let me get it back to the white full lumen ranges so they were returned for the VOCOlink ones. As for other Meross/Refoss products I like the smart garage opener Homekit and Non-Homekit versions) and duel switches, they work great on HomeKit and Google Home. Sorry, I have alexa but just cant seem to get the automation I want form it so it mostly stays unplugged and I don't test with it.

Hey bud great video! One part I noticed when you were talking about the Voco bulb I believe it would've fit in your kitchen lamp if you pulled up the round keepers on each side of the metal bracket then squeezed and removed the bracket, inserted the bulb, then reinstalled the bracket... I get what you were saying though it is bigger than most and may not fit in some fixtures just wanted to give you a heads up in case you really wanted to use it in that lamp. @@AdamsTechLife hey again, so, I got my bulb, and I have the issue of whites not being bright. Try setting a neutral white color with Yeelight app, then go back to HomeKit and set the same color. The brightness decreases a lot! I decided to not use Yeelight on my mains because of that. But otherwise, they are awesome. Colors are very accurate, like Philips Hue. Edit: Uhm, so, after updating my bulb, it got very pastel-y. All the colors are so washed up now. I am taking back my word, colors are trash. Philips Hue has better color accuracy. So philips hue is the winner? Close to the best color range, best dimming, solid app. The only downside being the bridge? To me the bridge works extremely well and takes a load off my router. Having individual bulbs connected to your router can actually start to effect its performance and from what I've noticed the bridge allows for much better connectivity and response time when turning the lights on and off.

I don't understand the comment at 3:50 re: the wattage of the LIFX bulb or any given bulb not working in specific fixtures. The wattage rating on an LED bulb just means that it outputs the same amount of light as an incandescent bulb in the same wattage. In reality they draw much less current and produce much less heat and can be used in pretty much any fixture they will fit in.

I’ve bought the Yeelight one without knowing about the non-light boost in the apple home app and I just have to say…it’s a pain in the ass. Ok yeah when you set it up it’s ok, but again it’s not really dimmable. But like, I don’t see any reason not to buy a meros bulb. It’s may not be that great as a Lifx or a Philips one, but if the only ones that you can buy are the Hue, the Yeelight and the Meros (which is my case cause where I live here in Greece they are not distributing the other bulbs), the Meros one is low key the best choice. What do you think?

Don’t know how many people will see this but another problem with the Meross bulb is that the HomeKit app doesn’t register the different colors by scene. Meaning that if you want one scene with red lights and another blue, it will just get stuck on one of the colors. It’s very weird and annoying.

I had HORRIBLE experiences with Lifx. Constantly disconnect from the Wi-Fi and sometimes require a full re-setup which can be a bit cumbersome in the app… not something you want to deal with when you just want to flip a light on after a long night out. One of my bulbs did have a color defect after only a month or two of use where it didn’t produce a few of the colors. I’ve also moved a few times with different routers and network service providers during the time I’ve owned them so I don’t think there is a network issue at play… The only redeeming quality is how much nicer the colors are compared to other bulbs, still not worth it for all the headaches.

OK the Hue Bridge costs $50-60, but if your router can only handle 20 connected devices, do you really want to use up 15 slots with light bulbs? Buying a new router with higher capacity will cost more than a Hue Bridge. Plus the Hue bridge will be "matter" comparable and so is future proof. Don't know about the others.

I don’t really find problems in a manufacturer’s app to be a compelling reason to not buy a bulb if you’re in the HomeKit eco-system. I use HomeKit for a reason, I rarely touch a manufacturer’s app, so as long as the functionality works in HomeKit it’s hard to care at all about what the manufacturer is doing.
@AdamsTechLife
@AdamsTechLife 3 жыл бұрын
Apple/HomeKit is known to not give users the full features that the bulb is capable of so the app will give you those features such as flow mode, candle flicker, etc. and you can create automations with those effects as well. Thanks for watching! 😊

@@AdamsTechLife that’s true. In the case of Meross are there any features one is missing out on in HomeKit? It’s clear if VOCOlinc’s app had issues you’d miss out on some functionality, but does the Meross app have extra features for their bulb? Also in the future charts would be a nice touch to help summarize all your comparisons.

@@InteriorRecollection that's exactly what I was saying - how can they be AVOID items just because a mfgr's app is less convenient when I'll never use it or see it? It didn't look like you could do anything extra in the Meross app other than see what color temp you're on, but I don't really care about that as much as the ability to quickly and easily get the mode I want set. My terrible FEIT bulbs have some 'party modes' that cycle through colors that are cute and novelty... I NEVER use them, ever, only to show them off. I do however use color temps auto switching throughout the day (I have 5 scheduled triggers) along with a dim warm setting and a red setting for night vision. that's it. you can do all of that via the Home app. The Meross are only $22 right now on amazon for 2pk, going with those.

But Philip's has a 1600 lumens bulb? So if you don't want the weaker brightness, just buy a stronger brightness bulb... Philips Hue might not be the best and isn't the cheapest but after a good few months of hardwork and saving, I've been able to fill most of my house with lights, and even bought a few extra unnecessary ones, like strip lights and the portable go lamp. I would actually recommend Philip's Hue, and they're slowly making it better and better.
