What's your favorite HomeKit Light Strip? Also, VOCOlinc was out of stock as of recording so that won’t be in this video but it is a really good HomeKit light strip but does make a buzzing sound.

Just to add my experience with Eve - I've got about eight strips around my flat - three in my living room, four in my bedroom, and none of them buzz. I have them set to automatically come on in the morning during the week at the same time as my alarm to help wake me up and dim them using HomePods. Zero bad experiences with them at all (very very occasionally I might have to unplug one so it reconnects to the router, but this is the same with most tech!). The only downer is them being Siri/HomeKit only, but Eve is one of the first companies to jump on Matter, so I expect them to open up to Alexa/Google Home networks in the future too.

The Onvis one was cool when it launched, as availability of addressable light strips for homekit was slim at best. Now there is Vocolincs new LS3 light strip which is not only addressable, but also extendable…unlike onvis. I picked up two and I’m very happy with them…35 for a 16 footer or 45 for a 32 footer….seems like a no brainer. They also worked very well with the SuperNight 4 pin 10mm connectors that Shane Whatley used for his cabinet lights. Just make sure you remove the adhesive on the light strip by where you’re connecting them or you could have issues getting a good connection.

The most interesting color to compare is white. How warm/cold the white can be is usually a key difference between the light strips. Too bad it wasn't covered in the video

I have a VOCOlinc light strip but am considering changing it out to a Nanoleaf. The VOCOlinc strip is not very bright for my application. However, my VOCOlinc doesn't make any noise that I can hear. I do have it plugged into a surge suppressor/line conditioner which may be making a difference.

So far I've only been using Nanoleaf and Onvis light strips. Nanoleaf is fast - wish it could do multi-colours. Onvis I do love for the colour options - my kids love creating patterns. Haven't experienced the buzzing noise like yours. I do find it sometimes goes unresponsive and is updating or doing something odd every now and then in HomeKit.

I've also noted that the VOCOlinc web site is down. However, their Amazon storefront, which had been taken down, is now back up. They have a few of their items listed as available including the LS2 light strip; which happens to be the one I have. Their air filter is listed but you cannot access that page. The filters for it are listed as "Currently not available". I was seriously considering getting one of these but have been very concerned with the company recently. No response from them from multiple people requesting help, website down, limited availability of products, et cetera.

For the buzzing sounds, I'm guessing those are manufacturing issues. I had bought a nanoleaf essential from an apple store once, and it made horribly lound buzzing sounds. I returned it and got a new one wich was quiet. So I doubt it's on purpose, might just be a malfunctioning unit

That buzzing noise on Eve and Onvis, I assume there was something wrong with those and may have been defective? That should not be normal I expect? Did you ask the manufacturers?
@AdamsTechLife3 жыл бұрын
I would think that, but this happened to a Vocolic strip I had before. Got it replaced but same issue. Other people have had the buzzing issue with VOCOlinc so that makes me think it’s “supposed” to happen. Thanks for watching! 😊

Have you done a comparison of Eve and VOCOlinc contact sensors? From a newbies POV it appears Eve is the high end and VOCOlinc is the budget option. But here in your light strip review, VOCOlinc won over Eve. That's great news for those of us on a budget. But what about contact sensors? My experience with VOCOlinc contact sensors so far is they have trouble going "offline" relying on Bluetooth. I ordered a HomePod Mini on the recommendation of one of your other videos; I'm hoping that cures the "offline" trouble.
@AdamsTechLife3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t used the Eve contact sensor but the VOCOlinc is a good budget option. I had issues with it being slow to run my automations so I switched to the Aqara contact sensor and it’s been fast. Anything with Bluetooth is bad news, there’s always range issues. A HomePod mini would help with automations and remote access. Thanks for watching! 😊
