I just can not wrap my head around the fact that somebody actually looked at the real estate photos of these two beautiful homes and their first thought was "I should buy these nice homes, tear them down, and then build something that looks like crap and has no style. It's just mind boggling!! Thank you for sharing, I am glad you got to them before they were totally gone. Hopefully somebody salvages that stained glass kitchen cabinet from the first one!!

Very nicely documented, Paul! I love the way you splice the agents' photos in as a sort before & after thing. My olds had a kitchen cabinet very much like the one @ 12:26. with the latches and stained glass. I dunno why, but I sometimes get a lump in my throat when I look at your excellent presentations...😥Cheers, mate!!! 👍

What a study in symmetry to open with. The approach to the first house is almost as obsessively symmetrical as an ancient Greek temple. A sweet cozy home lies under all that rubble. As quaint as the kitchen is there is very little preparation space. I tried to imagine where you might roll out a pie pastry in there. Maybe the little pantry room off to the side could hold a small table for surface area to work with. Thank you for the lovely photos added. The back garden looks like a small city park.

hope they salvaged that dresser! It is a real shame, those timber floorboards and ceiling moulding in both are beautiful.

I think what was done with the cabinet was that the lead light section was split from the section with the cupboards and drawers. It would have originally been a one-piece cabinet, a form familiar to most of us. And to me, because we have one with nearly identical lead lighting here at home. Another great post, Paul!
