For everyone mentioning that the dialogue is a bit too fast for beginners: Even for beginners, the earlier you start listening to full-speed conversations, the better off you'll be. Even if you're just starting. It's counter-intuitive at first, but think about it- there is virtually no circumstance where you'll ever be listening to a very slowly spoken conversation, where every word is pronounced clearly, so why would you practice listening to that? You are only training your brain to understand a speaking style you'll never actually encounter in real life, so what's the benefit of doing it that way? Practice what's actually going to happen. The intent at the beginning stage of listening comprehension is not necessary to try and understand, but to get used to how spoken Korean sounds in real life. Even this dialogue is considerably slower than a lot of actual conversations would go in Korea. Even if you don't understand hardly anything, listen to it repeatedly; take only 1 of these brief dialogues, and listen to only that and try to pick out words that you know. Listen to it several times every day, and even if you don't know the words, try to mimic the sounds being made. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it will super-speed your learning, I promise. I'm on 4 languages and counting using this method. 6 months ago, I couldn't understand very much spoken Korean, and now I understand probably 70% of spoken, natural Korean conversation. Not perfect, but much better. My method? Literally just repeatedly listening to naturally spoken conversations such as these alongside the standard studying of vocabulary and grammar. I also teach basic grammar and Korean alphabet to an American group, (I'm no pro in the language myself) but I think this is effective. And having both Kor and Eng subs is very helpful for me. The foundations in the alphabet itself is important in following conversations this way.

In retrospect this seems like facts. I mean growing up listening to your parents (assuming you have that privilege), you hear them speaking at full speed, sure they might've slowed down when speaking to you, but still, you get used to the real deal at a young age (or you prime yourself for that speech rate as you say). Same thing happened with Japanese while listening to anime, you get used to it, and same thing with Korean when watching Running Man (in my case lol).

everyone saying that its way too fast for beginners, its actually pretty useful. Starting off with a fast paced korean conversation is literally the best way to train your mind and brain of how korean conversations actually sound like. Its not good to practice conversations that are slow because in actual conversations no one would ever talk that slow unless they're drunk. Its way better to get your brain trained on how koreans talk in their conversations now than later. I've been studying korean for 8 months now and everything in this video is really helpful. Just keep practicing every day and listen to conversations even if you dont understand it. Its all about the time and effort you put into your studies. Have fun everyone and good luck!

I’m a intermediate learner and I find this video really useful. It goes from basic and natural conversations to really hard ones just for natives. It is good because after the dialogue follows the transcription so you can study the words you didn’t know and also see how it is used. I don’t get frustrated if I don’t understand something advanced because I just know it is not my level yet so I just keep listening :)

@@RnRnR eventually, yes...but if you're a beginner and everything just sounds like a big, unintelligible word salad, you're not getting anything from it. Listening is always starting slowly and working your way up.

@@gst013 I disagree. Repetitive listening is how I improved my comprehension. Around a year ago I used to listen to these dialogues every day even though I barely understood any of it. Eventually, whilst I was doing my own study, I found I could pick out words, grammar points and eventually entire sentences. It was really rewarding to discover I could understand something without having to look at a translation first and "learn it". Listening back now, these conversations seem trivially easy. Compared to what is awaiting you in your Korean study journey, this (or at least the first 10 minutes of it) is definitely adequate for beginners. You just need to persevere. The first step from absolute n00b to beginner is the hardest to overcome.

I’ve been learning Korean intensively for about 10 months now, 4 hours a day in all my spare time, and even took 3 months off between jobs to learn it full time. I can confidently say I was able to follow the conversations 70-80% of the time. So even though these are beginner conversations, you won’t be able to understand just from using a language app or watching K-drama. Get a book (I recommend Billy Go or TTMIK), set aside some time each day and learn the grammar and vocabulary. It will come eventually!

I totally empathise. I studied Korean in Seoul for 9 months before it all clicked and I was able to understand normal conversation. Ya just gotta.... keep at it. No silver bullet. The most useful practice for me, though, was spending time working on projects with non-English speakers -- they could show me what to do (not just tell) and after hearing the same explanation every day for a week I could understand most of it! I hope you're having fun over there.

Reall good practice test. I have to concentrate really well and if I do I can understand must of it. One suggestion woud be to add also a part with only Korean subs before the translation is given.

Linda I get what you’re saying but it would kind of be defeating the purpose of this since you most likely won’t be reading subtitles while talking in actual Korean It’s just trying to allow you to get your ears better at listening to the small stuff and understanding it ig

This is really helpful, thank you! One thing that could be improved is the translation though. The translation at 17:15 is wrong since there was no mention of 수영장 at all, yet, "pool" was written in the translation. Same for "gym." If ever, the translation should just write "[our facilities]." At 18:19, there was a clear typo. It should have been 이른 아침에 not 이름 아침에. Simple things like this. Also, 1:45 has the wrong translation again. 열다 is "to open," yet the translation reads "what time do you close today?" It should be "What time do you open?" or "What time are you open?" I'm not gonna list all the mistranslations, but I would sincerely appreciate it if the translations are as accurate as possible. I understand some sentences cannot be directly translated all the time, but in these examples, they can! Thank you for this video though. Very helpful :P Edit: added 18:19 example

This is helpful and I can easily read and copy what the speakers are saying. Really helps me speak faster. For beginners, however, I think it would've been better to ONLY use 존댓말 throughout the whole video. 29 years ago when I first visited Canada from Korea. I was all l frightened and couldn't do anything. Being able to have a command of good English was quite challenging me. If I had opted for Japan instead of English speaking countries. I''d have gotten better results.

Starting 13:00, the video is uploaded out of order from level of easy to hard right away. I know this the other language (like French/Spanish are uploaded in the correct level order). Just a heads up for those who are confused that the level that went from easy to hard. At the end, the level gets easier -- so whoever put the videos just got it messed up when slicing/uploading it.

I'm Korean, the expressions of some conversation are little bit awkward, because of many postposition particles and some sentence like this; 'wow, this pizza looks delicious.' we don't say this '와, 이 피자 맛있어 보여요.'. In a real conversation, we don't even say this sentence or we say '이 피자 맛있겠네요.', '이 피자 맛있어보이네요.' . using the word 'look' feels like the ENGLISH EXPRESSION.

I did pretty well most of the time. The company sales vocabulary was not easy for me as I had not studied those words yet. It also seems difficult to have the translation below be in English word order and the Korean text is in Korean grammar order so it caused me to pause and rewind a lot to understand what the words were. I did think that some over the translations might be a little off if the translator app I am using is right. Overall this is a good video to watch but they need to slow it down and have entire sentences displayed at a time so it is easier to follow the subtitles. Just my thoughts. More of a mid level video.
