I’m a 37 year old female and I’ve had a few people tell me I walk on my toes (seems to be noticed most often when I’ve been walking barefoot in the house). I always thought it was odd of other people to comment on, like was it really that different from how other people walked??? Watching this video I know I’m at a level 3 or at least close to it. I tried standing straight up with my feet flat on the floor and my heels can barely touch without extreme effort and palpable pain running from the back of my ankles up my calves. What finally has me looking more into toe walking is the chronic pain and inflammation I’ve had in both calf muscles daily since I was at least 14. I’m quite small at 5’3 and 105 pounds, and my calves have always been my most prominent (and painful) feature. I swear they are bigger than my thighs. I can’t remember when they’ve ever not hurt. They ache endlessly and feel so painfully tight no matter how much I seem to rub or stretch them. Prior to making the toe walking connection I’d been looking into myofascial pain syndrome in the soleus muscle. I’ve been trying trigger point massage to release what I thought could be myofascial pain. Have you ever seen instances or such a condition as a result of toe walking? My calf muscles don’t feel “normal” and I’m desperately trying to to fix what apparently has been a lifelong issue that wasn’t noticed in time. I’m also worried about the problem getting so severe over time that my mobility will suffer :(

I recommend you find a local physical therapist to help you address your pain. Also, a doctor to see if there is a reason behind your issues

Thank you for all of your content on toe walking. I have a general question. My son's right foot is a lot more tight(calf muscle) than his left and although he knows how to walk and tries, it is really hard for him to hit with his heel on that foot. We went to PT for about 2 months and the PT said that he hit a plateau. I am working with him at home now until we see his Dr. Have you ever experienced a success story without surgery on someone who is a number 3? edit... just wanted to add that he is 14

Goshh my parents have always pointed out about how i tiptoe and my kind of tiptoe is the 3rd level. I would walk like this almost all of the time and when im running it kinda goes into the 2nd level. And when i walk normally the back part of my calf hurts. Should i consult a doctor about this?

It is considered unethical for me to provide treatment recommendations for a person I have not personally evaluated. However, I can say in my own life if I am unable to relieve pain through techniques that I am aware of, I seek assistance.

For a long time I wanted to know what kind of toe walker I am, and I finally know now. I'm a type 3 toe walker cause my heels only touch the ground when I'm sitting and I need my feet flat on the floor, but even then, my ankle is at an angle otherwise it would hurt really bad. I'm 16 years old and I've been toe walking ever since I knew how to walk at 1 and a half years old. My mom didn't know that toe walking would become an issue so now I can't stop cause it's been 14 and a half years. Yesterday I tried walking normal, and I couldn't do it more that 5 steps, and my legs hurt so bad I cried yesterday. They are still really sore, and it kinda hurts to walk. Idk how I'm going to stop now.

It’s not too late to go to physical therapy And get help. You are still quite young. You will have to persevere and work hard but you can still make changes.

@@pediatricPTexercises Maybe, but I'm not sure if I would have to get afo's to correct it, or if I'm to old to do that. Plus it's going to a while before I can start PT, cause my house just caught on fire and we're too busy trying to get a house and beds and clothes cause those are the things I lost. I haven't transferred my pediatrician and I'm about an hour and a half away from where my pediatrician is.

So the waddling I’m seeing in my daughter isn’t necessarily connected to the toe-walking?
@pediatricPTexercises
@pediatricPTexercises 2 жыл бұрын
I can’t really answer that without evaluating your daughter. Often I see waddling when the stiffness runs higher up the legs

Its actually the fronts of the shoes that are more worn. The heel tends to be worn less not more.

Yes, it is called toe walking in English. However the problem is in the tightness calf muscle and weakness in the muscle in front of the lower leg. Hopefully this playlist will help you kzbin.info/aero/PLAkJbMrHyKjP470frDXaGDv2XrtEqPEUx

Amy what afo brace would you suggest?
@pediatricPTexercises
@pediatricPTexercises 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the answer depends on the results of the assessment of the child. For some children I recommend toe walking SMO‘s, for some I recommend night braces, for some I recommend flexible back orthotics. I really like Cascade orthotics.
