Hey! Just found out about this channel and I loved the video. I’m a Sophomore in high school and this track season my coach put me in the 3200m for the first time and I got 10:39. And then 3 weeks later I ran it a second time and got 10:22. And then just last weekend I ran it again and I got 10:29. I’m really happy with my times, but I want to break 10 by the end of the season. I’m running the 3200m in 2 weeks, so I was like I need to figure out a strategy. And I came across this video. I love the tips and I’m going to take them to heart. I’ll come back and edit this comment in 2 weeks after I race the 3200m again. Hopefully I can improve! Also, quick tip: you’re going to want to work on your lighting. Maybe watch some videos on how to correctly light your videos so that everything isn’t as washed. Other than that, great advice and keep it up!

My problem is, I need to work on my speed, I'm a freshman, supposed to be in 8th grade, I'm not able go super fast, my 5k is 19:07, 2 mile at 11:53, and mile at 5:33 so my pace barely goes down for my longer ones such as 5k or two mile, so if I can find a way to work on speed, I would get big time better, so overall I have not very good speed, just really good endurance, how can I make that better?

It is really hard to compare myself to other girls that run the same event since I am the only long distance girl runner from my school. Hey Ashlei. First, AWESOME running having dropped an 11:30 for the 2 mile already as a female. The majority of my career I have had to train alone and sometimes without the luxury of having faster runners with me. Continue to focus on your end goals and use them to get you out the door putting in those workouts. I know it isn't always easy to be out there doing workouts by yourself. That being said, the harder you can push yourself by yourself how much easier is it going to be when you are in a race with girls (or boys) who are as fast or faster than you? You will dominate. Keep me updated on your progress. I see you going well under 11 minutes in the near future.

@@rundreamachieve Hey man since you're an experienced runner I got to ask: Have you ever experienced yourself or maybe know of other people who have experienced negative nerves before a race that affect them a lot because those nerves drain them of energy before a race even starts? @@asimhf7353 Of course, especially when I was not as mature and experienced as later in my career. You get to a point where the work you do in training is enough. So, you let the others on the start line and prior to the start of the race worry about their race. Training should be the most tenacious, difficult part of the process. The race? THAT should be the celebration of all your hard work and when it comes time to race, if you have done your homework in training, nothing can stand in your way. You let go of the worry and get in that "flow" state.
