@Bweyg9 ай бұрын
No spoilers, my prediction is 9:45 for 2 miles. Edit: Let's goooo, 9:43 is really solid, considering you ran 4:41 1 mile just like what a week and a half ago or something? You can break 4:30 for sure in the 1 mile with the 9:43 2 mile! And I don't care if it's not the fastest time ever, it's still amazing and it inspires me for training over the summer CAREFULLY this time and not burn myself out! Maybe I'll join you at the sub 10 minute 2 mile club next year, who knows :D (I'm at 11:39 for my 2 mile for reference so sub 10 might be a bit of a stretch, but I hope XD) In the words of Cam from the sub 8 minute 3k video, "LETS GOOO SPENCE!"
@robciervo9 ай бұрын
You should do a workout with Dan King when in Boulder. He ran a 4:59 mile at 60 years old at the 5Th Avenue Mile. He still does great track workouts.

Would be really sick to see you progress into the longer distances, 5k, 10k HM and Marathon. You got a 14:22 on your road 5k before the injury so you're clearly elite level, at least in my eyes.
@biguzivert9 ай бұрын
That would make sense. Really the natural progression of runners is to move up in distance as they get older and loose the speed of their youth. Im sure he could smash his best in the longer distances.

A series focused on creating and going through a training block would be nice. Going through things like picking out the peak race, the base building phase, introduction of workouts and why you do them and taper along with the little things like stretching and lifts would be nice regardless of the distance or results

@AMostlyFunctionalJess9 ай бұрын
5km-half marathon has a ton of potential for you. Going up to the marathon is a whole different beast to handle so personally, I'd have a bunch of fun going at the 5k and 10k distances on the roads and maybe get a couple of half marathon races banked before looking to the marathon. You seem like you're having a lot of fun so imo, keep chasing that.

Allie really nailed the time....a mere one second of overestimation. BTW if anybody gives a negative critique (particularly after being off for 2 1/2 months, and still not doing speed work at full blast), I would highly doubt they could run a mile and a half, let alone two miles in 9:43, and for some, maybe not even a mile! Good job! Keep recovering intelligently, build up gradually and you will be in awesome condition.
@RunningMan14149 ай бұрын
Good job Spencer, for a fun and exciting change of pace, you should definitely run the 2 USA stops of the Golden Trail World Series in September. I assume Allie had them in her calendar too.

Go for a half-marathon next. It'll be a new challenge and gives you options for follow-up. If you end up liking long distance it's a good stepping stone to the marathon. If not, the training isn't so gimmicky that it'd be a waste when you pivot back to 5k or even mid-distance. You could be in decent shape for one by early fall if you start looking at it now.

FYI, a mile isn’t 4 laps of a 400m track. You did 3,200m not 2 miles. You need to start at the steeple jump markings around 9m before the start line and then run that plus 4 laps for 1 mile.
