2 months with the Cammus C5 direct drive wheel

Kudos to the customer service team at Cammus. I ordered the C5 direct but decide to cancel and get it from Abruzzi in the UK, simply to have a quick option to return the device if there are any issues as have been bitten before with Chinese companies, but, although I was dubious as to customer service at the beginning, they cancelled my order on my request and within 2 days I had a full refund. I did think I'd get it quicker from Abruzzi, but looks like they don't hold stock so lesson learnt there too but hopefully will have my hands on it soon and run it through its paces.

i'm thinking about what to buy next, do you still use this wheel? are you experiencing any issues? did anything get better or worse?

I just got mine 2 days ago straight shipped from china to taiwan. Overall it's definitely worth the price. Buttons are plastic on mine instead of metal, but quality is still decent. Unable to use those 3 encoders are frankly quite annoying. And I'm struggling finding a universal FFB setting jumping form cars to cars in AC. ACC and rF2 works ok for me. Another downside will be the active cooling fan, it constantly running and sounds as if someone place a gaming laptop in front of my desk.

I have got my schedule delivery of Friday 18/23 from FedEx, ( 7 days ) very ectied to try my new wheel. For me in Canada the shipping is terrible for all the manufactures. The Cammus C5 is $600 Cad all in (taxes ,duteis, shipping), the Fanatec DD 8Nm is $ 1200 Cad (on sale). So for me Cammus C5 is my up grade from my Thrustmaster 300T, $ 1200 for the Fanitec is just way out of my price legue. Cheers Krusty

The wheel is amazing!!! Their is no comparison to my Thrustmaster t300 it is least 3 times stronger than my Thrustmaster t300. Most importantly is all the details that it is able to covey, a game changer for sure. I would highly recommend investing in better peddles something with a 100 kg load cell for your next upgrade.Cheers Krusty@@bigsam9987

@@winkiiiie I know I'm a little late, but that doesn't sound too off. CSL DD 8nm in Aus to your door is around $1100 for the whole bundle, around (1000 cad) this is to my door is $700 for the whole bundle atm.

Yes, Cammus actually sent me a pre-release software upgrade ==> transformed my experience and this has now been officially released 😎😎

I just got my Cammus C5. I was in the software and did an update, after that my base does not show as a device. I can’t set parameters or any wheel settings. It reads when I press buttons, but anything that involves turning the wheel…nothing happens. Seem to work fine, before I did a firmware update…. But now I can’t even use it.

Maybe try reinstall everything, I haven’t had an issue, I’ve done a heap of updates but if not contact Cammus and see if they can guide you through a way to fix it

Wow, your awesome. Thanks for Reply. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling. I used Cammus message system to describe my issue. Hoping they can help. Feeling really bummed, I’ve been looking forward to this wheel. Out of box it worked,but after I did flash update, I lost my base as a detectable device…. So it won’t allow me to update. Or im just missing a file now. Idk, what to do. Hope Cammus support can shed some insight on my issue

Update: Cammus support team is awesome!!! They sent me a personalized video on how to fix my issue, step by step instructions. My wheel is back and up running, couldn’t be more happy with my purchase now. This is my first sim wheel, and paired it with Fanatec csl pedals for now. Thanks for responding to me. I was a bit lost when I looked online, nothing came up with the issue I was having.

My only complaint with the C5 is the size of the wheel. It's just too small. Maybe it's fine for the smaller Chinese people who developed it. But us larger people with broad shoulders it's just not comfortable to us. Feels like one of those old school chain link low rider steering wheels. I wanted to like it. It performed fine. But, dang, give some options here for a larger wheel. Or make the wheel bolt to the hub in some fashion so we can have options.

Depends if you want to be able to change the wheel or not, while both are 5nm the cammus feels more powerful due to the motor being in the wheel itself, i have not used the R5 so I can’t say, I’ve used the CSL DD and if I had to use the 5nm CSL DD or the cammus C5 I would choose the C5, I put this more in line with the 8nm CSL DD which I have had for a few years now just not able to change wheels
