Check Billy Gibbons Rig Rundown. Also Angels and Airwaves, Blink 182, Greenday. There’s a lot of pro bands, Iron Maiden, who use the rack Marshall gear. Of course, the emulated outs were never very good in the early 90s and we’ve come a long way. I think Fractal units sound amazing. To get the most from your preamps, power amps is how it was done back then. I know they’re hard to find. I know they often need repairs. I know tubes are scarce. It’s a little late to jump in now. But you can still get Mesa rack power, and of course a decent VHT power to rattle those 4x12s.

You need to round out the trifecta with the ada mp1. Then you have all bases covered especially for that 80’s hair metal and 90’s rock tones. Great sounds !!!

There are a couple PreAmps being made. Engl E530, and AMT Stonehead. I have a JMP-1 from early 90's. I always wanted to get the Voodoo MOD Platinum. It's too expensive. I also have a SansAmp PSA-1 that I play Bass through. It's great.

I'm 100% rack guy. One rack is built around a mesa boogie studio preamp into a mesa boogie simul 295. My second is built around the mesa boogie mk. 4 Love them so much

Different companies in the US and UK make spare parts for these old rack units. The JMP-1 knob skips and there is a fix. Most have calculator batteries that are soldered in place. You can get a battery module so you can swap batteries without soldering. Check the various forums. If you need manuals of these vintage rack units, there are digital scanned pdf versions out there. For most units, it is not obvious what each preset button does and what tones are included.

I like 19" gear. I have a JMP-1 and a rare Engl 850 rack mounted amp. A great combo, The Engl power amp is great for the JMP-1, but also has its own preamp, which I REALLY love.

I have owned everything under the sun cheap to very expensive. I always go back to the JMP-1, especially for live stuff. one trick I accidentally learned was to switch out the 12ax7's for a very specific GT tube.

Triaxis owner here. To be honest, the tone control changed the fixed point on the modes, but its hard to hear the diffrence. It's more about gain levels, and is not have the balls of my dual rect, or Nomad 100. I like all the sounds you can program, but it dosen't "sound like 8 diffrent amps, more like 2 or 3 similar amps. It sounds like a boggie. Never owned a jmp-1, but they sound good as well. I still find my ADA MP-1 to work best, because of it's heavier sounds.

The Marshall sounds very digital but maybe if I was playing my Doom and Gloom style it might sound better than where you were playing, no offense. I guess if you're in a budget the Marshall one would suffice but personally there's something about that Mesa and tubes and would complement fantastic with my vht 252 Poweramp. Hey thanks for the video that was really cool. Oh and by the way I also prefer turning knobs I am sick of digital stuff and plug-ins all day long.

jmp is a twin tube preamp and it’s more digital and triaxis is all analog I believe and 5 tubes

You are wrong...the Mesa was designed to be run through a stereo 290 power amp (not " to be heard" direct through the board as you assert)..thats ok...you dont understand how to use the triaxis anyways...(you make it sound like GARBAGE...and you need an outboard eq to make it sound its best, which wouldnt matter to you..because you had the bass WAYYY TOO HIGH on the Mark IV..II and III...didnt use the onboard eq except to put it on 1(dynamic voice), and failed to understand that the eq controls on the recto are post and the input gain should be on 3 to act like an actual Recto (first gain on the board)lead 1 drive is the gain for the recto and lead 2 drive is the gain for the Mark section which switches to PRE gain tone controls)..I am guessing that you actually know how to use a Marshall so it probably sounds better..havent watched that part yet.
