I discovered your channel a few days ago and I am watching all your videos, very inspiring. Today I worked almost 4 hours at 2 big pieces . Thank you! Greetings from NY

This is really encouraging me to do more sketchbook work and less 'finished' work. The idea being to use the sketch to inform my studio work and make better finished paintings. I'll be sketching locally during my daily lock down exercise. I'm hoping to join you on a workshop when the lockdown has been lifted.....

What you do is just magic. Can I ask you if it's normal compressed charcoal or a specific water soluble one? Thanks Lewis.
@LewisNobleArtist2 жыл бұрын
It's compressed charcoal not willow, that's the important thing.

you’ve given me so much to explore and ways to interpret my experience. thank you for sharing. how do you fix your charcoal sketches? a regular fixative?
@LewisNobleArtist4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Just normal fix.

Thanks again. I know I’m late to the comments I was wondering are you using a workable fixative or spray to seal your sketches after you finish? Cheers

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Do you use these sketches in the studio? How?

What type of sketchbook is that? You mentioned cartridge paper, which is something I am not familiar with here in Canada.
@LewisNobleArtist3 жыл бұрын
Try searching Amazon.com. I think it's called Bristol paper in USA and Canada but there's lot's on there. It's just ordinary drawing paper.

I hadn't thought to wet the paper!😮
@LewisNobleArtist4 жыл бұрын
It’s good! Only works with compressed charcoal though not willow sticks.

Do you ever collage your charcoal drawings?
@LewisNobleArtist4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes. I only ever do these type of drawings in order to collage later. I'll do a video on it soon!
