--------------------------------------------------
Working with mixed media using a variety of different paints. I work rapidly but build up the paintings in layers to make sketches that can be referenced in studio paintings.
Lewis Noble has lived and worked in Derbyshire since 1996. His focus lies in the physical and emotional impact of the landscape on the senses and the effect this experience has on us.
His paintings are not snapshots or photographic frozen moments but through repeated layering and eroding of the painted surface, they contain all of the time it takes to make them.
The result is a body of work that speaks to the heart of what it means to be part of the environment.

I am fascinated and challenged by your painting and the ways you think! I love the way you keep from being "precious." I am not there yet! (I gasp when you rip your paper, or cover a nice spot in your collage work!) I am now trying to paint an experience, motion, and feelings rather than simply what I view in a single impression. And the air, to paint the air rather than a horizon. Thank you, thank you.

Great to see you out and about again, I took your advice from one of your other videos about leaving the camera behind. I've found using my sketchbook whilst out has been freeing!! Also painting from memory has been fun!!! Great artworks, lovely to watch you work!!

Thanks Lewis, always relaxing to watch but also as always very helpful. I live in Ireland and those clouds, with all sorts of greys! Have been a company for the last few weeks. To paint them make them a bit more special.

Stunning work process Mr Lewis! I have learned a lot just watching you paint and discuss your painting direction. One of your videos showed up on my feed yesterday--you were discussing what landscape painting means to you and this morning more of your videos showed up. It was almost 4:00 in the morning for me and I was wide awake, so I watched more of your inspiring work. Greetings from the San Fernando Valley, Los Anegeles, CA.

Wonderful! Im on the west coast of Canada so we have too much green. It’s a problem here when painting, so I need ideas on NOT using green to show trees.

Hi Lewis, I am enjoying your approach to the landscape very much. Thank-you for sharing. Can you tell me what type of ink you spilled out in the beginning of the video please?

Might you interject a couple of times some video of what you are looking at? Then, perhaps, one can see the light,, dark shapes and things you are extracting energy from onto paper? Showing the scenery at the video's beginning and end is insufficient. Without repeated reminders of what you see, the entire session is just a lot of mark making and scribbling... and zero anchoring CONTEXT.
