I just started doing kb swings every morning after I wake up. There’s really no excuse for anyone to not wake up 11 minutes earlier than usual so you can do 10 minutes of swings. I do 10, finish the minute resting, and do 10 more until I get to 100 after 10 minutes. I feel so much better mentally just knowing I’m starting to do something.

Just started kettleballs this week. I thought I was in pretty good shape. LOL. I've also started "intense" exercising last week. So doing 3 reps of 30 swings in my warm-up before doing my 3 primary intense exercise (rowing/Stair stepper/ dreadmill) I have now added another 3 reps of kettleball in my cool-down.. All this has taken me to another level. Who knew? BTW, I turn 75 this yr.

@@WhoIsJonHarris LOL. I get that a lot. Genetics I guess. Also, I wrestled in high school and I think dieting and at least being mindful of some sort of fitness, went along ways. But it wasn't until 2010 when I ruptured 3 lumbar that I seriously began taking better care of myself all yr round. Except when graduating from boot camp, this might possibly be the time in my life where I am the most phyically fit. Also, I have biked 3K miles for the last 4 summers and 5k the summer before those. Headed to Florida to bike on the 12th. I tell people, no matter what shape you're in, just do something, even if its only 20 min of walking. Thx for the reply.

I’m 44, started kettlebell training about 6 months ago, I’ve been weight training for a few years & doing Pilates. The kettlebells have transformed my body like nothing else. I superset 1 minute of kettlebell swings after each exercise during my session. I’m so much stronger, I was looking at pics from my track days in college and my 44 year old ass is better than it was at 20! I know that’s because of the kettlebell swings!!

I give this explanation 13 points out of a possible 10. KB swings are one of those amazing exercises where everything in life gets easier once you've been doing them for just a few months - carrying the groceries, lifting the kids, changing a tyre, carrying bags of concrete from A to B. It's a superpower. Thanks for laying it out. Appreciated, and greetings from Australia. (60yo - doing a 2-3 thousand 24kg KB swings/cleans/snatches a month now, since the pandemic. Hip-hinge ones, not squat-dominant...)

Thanks a bunch friend. I see so many people getting weaker and weaker as they age. It really warms my heart seeing people that are still making the effort to keep some sort of strength and fitness no matter how old they are. I meet so many people who say “once you get my age you won’t be able to do that” and I have members at my gym twice their age banging out the work. Excuses for days. Swang and Bang brother.

First time I ever saw a kettlebell was in 2004 in Estonia on a trip. I learned the basics then and have been using them ever since. Now in mid 40s they are about all I use at home. I have dip bars and a pull up bar and kettlebells. Super happy with my health and fitness level.

I'm 72, and been doing Kb Swings since I'm 53, missing a few periods after some wear and tear surgeries, but it's my focal point before I do anything else. I shoot for a 100 min. and some days it's 60 or 80, and then days at 130, 175, 150(past two weeks). Still doing deadlifts, but now lighter and for higher reps off a 3 inch high platform. I totally agree with your idea, to have a process, then good things happen. Epic beard by the way. Looking forward to more of your videos.(No ass shots). GT Sipe

I haven't tried them, but I hate the kickback machine. Used it for 3 months as it was part of my newbie training plan. I was very weak at this exercise and hardly got any stronger. And I found the machine super uncomfortable. I finally dumped the exercise and exchanged it for Romanian deadlifts. Now I see progress and growth in a matter of weeks.
@SV-qz1edАй бұрын
I started swings in September, starting out with the 12 kg (I'm female). I do notice my hamstrings have gotten bigger and stronger. But I have also been doing romanian deadlifts the last couple of weeks. Not sure what had the bigger impact. I'm in the middle of the 10,000 swings challenge. When I'm done I will continue doing swings, but less reps obviously, and I'll switch to the 16 kg.

How dare you show up on this kettlebell hard style video with your kettlebell sport propaganda. It’s insulting. And unwarranted… hahaha! I kid I kid. I’ve actually talked about this a lot with my coach. He’s also a kettlebell nerd. I’ll be honest I haven’t really spent a lot of time with the sport style approach. Always been hardstyle. Throughout my entire coaching career. But here’s my thought. While sport style may be more efficient and endurance focused. It doesn’t seem… fast. It strikes me as methodical and “in it for the long haul” type of technique. Not necessarily applicable in the “fast” environment anaerobic CrossFit methodology. What day you?

@WhoIsJonHarris Жыл бұрын
I was talking to my coach about this very thing recently. It’s almost like you’re going to end up landing in one camp or the other. I believe the REAL benefit is commitment to a practice. If you gravitate towards one have at it. Me personally I’ve never found myself intrigued with the sport style method. But to each their own. Sport style seems very aerobic based to me. But hey if that tickles your pickle be my guest.
@PainterLady Жыл бұрын
Just learning KB. What's the difference in the styles?
I think both are valid, depends on what you want to focus on. And why not use both? My understanding is that sport style strives to max efficiency, necessary to excel at competitions (reps/time) - quite cardio heavy whereas Hardstyle strives to max inefficiency in movements to max body adaptations. You can certainly become fit with both styles.

Weird handle centering. Just garbage. If anything save your money for a bit a buy quality. Let me know if you have a certain brand you’re looking at.
