2. Rocker panel replacement

So I decided to make the passenger side rocker panels my second video. I have a passenger door, but It seems to make more sense to replace this first.
The rocker panels themselves are fairly simple in hindsight, but a little intimidating at first, as I had no idea how they were attached. The toughest part was the collateral damage I found when I removed the panels, specifically the kick panel and door pillar support.
I'm thinking I'll be replacing the passenger door in the next video.
Oh, if you guys would like to support me I invite you to check out my Patreon fund here: www.patreon.com/user?u=4716013
This is essentially my truck fund, so this helps me order parts to keep the videos coming.
Thanks for watching.

Im replacing rotten rocker panels on a Chevy Cobalt as my intro to learning how to weld. This video is super insightful for seeing the problem solving versatility you have when really knowing how to patch and weld. Thanks for documenting it!

This is great info. I'm not really interested in doing an Apache but the methods will carry over to anything. I'm comfortable enough to dive into mechanical stuff but body work has never been something I thought I could tackle. Thanks for making these videos.

I see someone already mentioned weld through primer, Id def be using the heck out of some. Rustoleum makes a 'rust stop' one that you can find at the local hardware store, no need to hit the auto supply house. Id also be hitting the areas away from your weld zones with a coat of POR15 also. any time I open a panel up I coat the backside as best I can. Keep it up! Good to see you dont shy away from these tricky repairs

Thanks for the advice... Yeah I really have no idea what I'm doing, but I keep getting better, and I figure by the time I go through the whole truck--I'll probably know enough to go through it again and perfect what I didn't get right the first time.

That inner rocker would have driven me nuts if I didn't line that top bend up and make it longer to reach the bottom of the outer rocker. Sometimes you need to go that extra mile with China parts unfortunately.
