nice problrm solving, and I like the solutions. def. looking to see more. Just set up my "bucket-list", 1st personal hydrogro dwc style with two 5x5 flower tents and a low pressure aero clone station to feed them both. Maybe I'll go rdwc and high pressure in a while and watching others like yourself who record the process really help with envisioning how to incorporate with my soace, skills, resources and be real about it. Thanks for making the effort. subbed.

Nice build. I did a 4 bucket center manifold last year and have great results. In the middle of a 2 bucket like yours and glad I seen this because I wanted to run chiller and waterfall on same pump. You confirmed that thanks, only thing I did different was run Venturi on waterfall outletsThe fertilizer injector ones. And half inch drains on bottom corners out to small pump. Still ran air but going to try without next run to see how it does. Anyway good show!

You ran Venturi pumps on your waterfall outlets? I was thinking of this setup as well for a drip system. Did you make your own DIY venturi with tubing/piping or did you find one one the market? I see you said its a fertilizer injector one. Im not sure which one that would be. I know theres two types of Venturis.. ones that run off of water pumps creating air flow, and ones that run off of air pumps creating water flow (this is the one I need to build).

The pipe from bucket to bucket is a fail safe. Since it's rdwc and all buckets are sharing the water anyways, it's better to have it. there's more chance of a flood if either one of those exits get clogged. The connecter pipe gives the water a 2nd route to go back to the res if 1 way gets blocked so it won't flood.

Having a submersed water pump like that is going to wreak havoc on your water temps - at the very least it's going to cost you more money to be running the chiller all the time. I've had greater success positioning the water pump outside of your buckets - which still generates heat, but not nearly as much as a submersible.

That system is similar to an rdwc system I built. Only difference is my 2-3" pipe tees off between the totes instead of a 90 on the end. I feel like your system may run the risk of pulling more water from the closer tote to the reservoir than the one next to the chiller. Other than that I'm sure it will work fine and you'll kill it! Is there a benefit to the reservoir that will fil) and empty vs an airstone with the roots constantly submerged?
@thewell-roundednovice8852
@thewell-roundednovice8852 2 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming that you mean a flood table that fills and empties, like on an ebb n flow system.... the benefits to ebb n flow are as follows::: 1. Better in case of a power outage 2. Don't need a chiller 3. Way easier to grow large #s of plants 4. Very simple to design and set up Deep Water Culture will still get the best results growth-wise and is my favorite method of hydroponics, but other ways definately have their advantages

This is a nice set up...I’m new to growing and the biggest issue I’m running into with hydro is ph drift...how bad is it with this kind of system? I’ve changed my system from a recirculating drip system to a waste drip system to avoid ph fluctuations.
@thewell-roundednovice8852

Any rdwc will drift pretty much proportionally to how much nutrients your plants are uptaking out of the solution... ph goes up like crazy during veg and early flower and falls during mid to late flower for me-- in both rdwc systems that I've used.... obviously a larger water volume will have less drastic ph movement though

I didn't look into coolers, but there might be some issues with the bulkheads if the walls are thick and also if the walls aren't smooth and flat.... also, the thickness of the lids would be a problem probably with the netpots I'm guessing... I do think that I may use a cooler for a topoff res on a build I have coming up, but I have no idea which one... if you have a certain cooler in mind, please let me know so I could take a look, I still haven't decided on the buckets for my next build(looking for something around 15-20 gallons) I'm constantly looking for something that fits the bill, so if you find a cooler that would work please let me know!

System would stay cooler if the pump was outside the water system, maybe you won't need the chiller. Why not place it on a timer for 2 to 4 times daily, 10-15 minutes each for nutrient circulation saving electricity. Keep the air going.

It's a DC pump, so that helps it stay cooler... I just like my pumps in the reservoir for some reason(feel like I can mitigate some flood risk)... and I guess you could put the pump on a timer, if you were going to get rid of the chiller, but I won't be doing that..... in my experience, the chiller is crucial in avoiding problems

This is a waterfall (fallponics system) so I'm not pulling water back, I'm pushing it out to the sites.... I like the idea of less possible places for leaks and having the pump submerged inside the reservoir... ik sure it works either way, but this also allows me an easy way to do waterchanges

@TheStickdee I would make the drain pipes as big as possible to avoid clogging depending on the size of your system and flow.... I've done fine with all 2" drain pipes.... doesn't matter really for feed pipes, I use 1/2" pvc because it's way cheaper for fittings

@thewell-roundednovice8852 Жыл бұрын
Depends on your system... if everything is connected with pipes that are below the waterline, you set the height with the reservoir..... the system you're talking about is the one I set the water height in the system with overflow design(that's not a common design and you probably shouldn't base anything in your system off of it).... ill be retrofitting that system into my room soon though and I'll talk a little more about the overflow design when I do that video

decent video, definitely not gonna want that to be your main source of oxygen into your water, gonna wanna get a diffuser and air pump or stones are the very least otherwise you aren't gonna have an optimal setup you could have otherwise. more Dissolved Oxygen the better for your roots and that aint' gonna cut it especially once those totes fill with roots and block the flow from splashing. waterfallponics are the worst imo

@@thewell-roundednovice8852 I actually started off with keeping fish long before DWC... So yes, my first systems had threads out, seals in just like the fishtank filter/auto top setup. However, taking apart the system (mainly the larger ones with multiple sites), is a must for cleaning thoroughly after a run or even a smaller system if it needs to be moved. The truth is the bulkheads will work either direction, but I was mainly considering disassembly. Cheers.
