Great video and nice comparison, I'm new at the sport and don't have much experience, I've been riding a 2021 yamaha yz250fx and is a very powerful and easy bike to ride, I recently bought a 2020 yz125x because I wanted to try a 2 stroke bike, and I'm so glad that I bought it, is so much fun to ride, I ride both constantly and you guys are absolutely right, the power delivery and the traction is so much better on 4strokes, when I know I'm gonna be riding on sand or loose terrain I take the 4stroke for sure, but when I'm riding on single trails with a lot of curves I love the 2t, both are a lots of fun.

Looks like the 4-stroke is the guys personal bike. Not really a fair comparison if he has it set up for himself, especially the suspension

Both bikes are bone stock except protection parts. The 2 stroke won the shootout. Yes, we both own these bikes as our personals. It’s a fun comparison, not a paid ad with free bikes from KTM 🤣

@@XploreEnduro never met anyone that rides at any level above beginner that doesn’t set up a bike when they buy it. Never thought of just riding it completely stock before. You set up suspension or try different tires?
@XploreEnduro Жыл бұрын
@@mikeybstunts I’m not disagreeing with you and I apologize if my comment came across rude. I own the 350 for fast racing, I will ride a 2 stroke if I’m going to focus on technical. I can honestly say I’ve never changed gearing on a single one of my 20 dirtbikes over the years, I think it has more to do with clutch control. Other than protection parts, I rarely change anything other than clickers on my bikes. I love to set them up but can hardly afford it so I’ve learned to enjoy what the brand engineers have given us. I’ve found that stock bikes are just as capable as $20k bikes, it’s all dependent upon the rider.
@mikeybstunts Жыл бұрын
@@XploreEnduro came off a bit rude but no worries. I ride British Columbia so a lot of tech wet single track. The 13 tooth is the most common mod that the racers do up here. Might not be best for fast desert riding. I did however like the gearing in moab.

Meh I like bigger bore power, hence I restored one of my old dinosaur 380 EXC's, I love that old motor but I sure miss a newer chassis. Maybe I will do an engine swap just for giggles.

There is plenty of big bore options in the new chassis 👍🏼

@@XploreEnduro Yes I do know that, my office is right next to BRC's and I own a race shop to boot. More just musing about the old school 380's. I was not talking about doing a big bore, I was talking about swapping the 380 into a newer chassis which I know would be a big fat waste of $$ in the end but it still would be cool.

how much heavier is the 350?? I was told only 4 to 5 pounds extra

Yes. The actual weight is super similar but the 350 naturally feels heavier. I think it’s due to 4 stroke motor engine braking and enertia

@leroywilliams7210 Жыл бұрын
One thing is it can be hard to ride 2T and 4T back to back for comparison as they take a different riding style. I have last generation 300XC & 250XCF and they ride very different and takes me 20-30minutes to adapt sometimes. They both have their place. I ride 300 for Hard Enduro days and 250f for flowier and family days. Both weight the same, 250f feels heavier due to rotational mass 300 can be more of a handful with so much power on tap. Own both, best of both worlds!
@XploreEnduro Жыл бұрын
I completely agree! I’d even say 5 hours on each motor is how long it takes me to adjust my riding style. Yes, the engine braking and rotational mass make the 4 stroke feel heavier although they are actually pretty similar on the scale. I agree having both would be awesome!
@JayVibe2022 Жыл бұрын
good review! I like to ride on some technical trails. I used to ride a 350. At low speed, I was able to lift the front wheel over some obstacles without even flicking the clutch. I wonder if 300 TPI will use the clutch more frequently? For example, at low speed, its torque is not as good as 350, will it make my fingers more tired? thanks!
@XploreEnduro Жыл бұрын
@@JayVibe2022 ehh. I always use a clutch for almost everything I do on a bike but the 300 has double of a low end hit over the 350 so I’d assume you would like it even more!
