sth like that on the supposedly mechanically sound cat is worrying

It happens to all the brands. I’ve drug a few green ones on to my lowboy. Last 9rt we had to pull the coupler from trans to rear end to pull it on and off.
@6thGenFarmer3 жыл бұрын
We we have had issues with Deere too. If it’s mechanical it will break down
@circlesfarms3 жыл бұрын
We just had a tractor do the same thing. Bearing in trans failed three months after it was put in
@bladewiper3 жыл бұрын
At least it failed under warranty. They all break down, "trippy Farmer" had a brand new J.D. combine break down a few weeks after they got it.

As heavy as those are built the transmission problem surprises me. Those tractors are so massive it’s impressive
@6thGenFarmer3 жыл бұрын
That was our thought as well. But like you said at least it happened within the 1 year warranty period

Cornstar's combine woes got everybody nervous?

Could this be a premature thing because of the tile plow? Or would that cause more of a rear end damage?
@6thGenFarmer3 жыл бұрын
great question! Tile plows actually don't require much power to pull, just traction. When we are puling the plow we are usually in 1st gear at like 1500 RPM, So very little strain is being put on the transmission and rear end. A local customer tiler actually has 11,000 hours on one of these tractors and outside of regular maintenance he hasn't spent a dime on it. I think we just happened to get a bad part installed
@adamalfredsson3733 жыл бұрын
It could be worse, it could be out in the middle of a field still hooked to the tile plow

Very true!

it sounds like main shaft from engine to transmission splines are gone

When testing their 80' field cultivator Wilrich blew a tranny on the new Challenger pretty quickly.

I farm. I used to rebuild transmissions and gear stuff for CAT for 8 years. I also worked for Deere for 1.5 years. Deere sucks compared to CAT. In my 8 years at CAT we never had a single Challenger tractor come in for major work to be done. Not 1. I never got to rebuild 1 Challenger transmission. I worked in a larger shop with around 40 techs. I heard of 1 that had an issue before I started there. Get field calls for work. Never had to have a challenger come into the shop for major work. Only time they were in the shop was being serviced for sales department. Just saying....

We used to have a challenger mt865e and once our dealer had to bring a loaner tractor out because our first loaner broke down because the turbo went out for the 3rd time that fall on the first tractor. We have tried hard to become agco people but every tractor that we get from them is just an absolute pile

Warranty hopefully saves the day . Would it cost 40,000 out of pocket or less

I all to well know that situation on mt800 a and b series challenger. 3 transmissions in the a series alone. Nieghbor has major drivetrain issues every year in his mt875b. 200 to 750 hrs a year. We were all challenger now we are everything but challenger. Get rid of it on a 610 versatile tractor.
@kevinwilson14753 жыл бұрын
Funny thing is the 610 has the same transmission
@scottsteinberger35423 жыл бұрын
@@kevinwilson1475 but it has drive shafts with u joints vs a direct shaft from the transmission to the differential. Mt900s also don't have transmission problems I believe for the same reason

Next time read the manual it tells you how to release the park brake tow a dead tractor. I don't think you need and tools it is all in cab.
