Great video! I think it’s so important to review these kinds of hands the way you did. Everyone but machines makes -EV decisions, but as long as you review them and learn from them (especially when you get lucky and win the hand), it makes you a better player in the long run.

Great video!! Love the nitty gritty details that aren't glamorous but are necessary. Looking at plays/decisions from a numbers perspective separately from results is key. Thanks for your time and efforts James!!

I’m so confused. Can you post their range here please for both hands? How did you arrive to the w%?
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
The W% is how often they fold, since that's the only chance I have at winning either of the pots. Which ranges are you looking for?

Hey, what are the odds of the board pairing on the turn/river. Saw your previous video about that - what I mean is q25 flop turn comes 6 river comes 6. Had a rough beat. Was sitting with 2 5 ended up all in on the flop vs kk and another call from kq. Was sitting there like I’m good good to triple here and runs out board pairing 6 6
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
For that specific setup, there are 36 cards that can come on the turn that do not pair the board, and if that happens, then 3 river cards that can pair the turn card. So = (36/47)*(3/46) = 5% of the time.

You’ve been playing for poker for years how are you still playing 1/2?
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
I play $2/$5 and $5/$10. I'm playing $1/$2 for the VLOG since it's massively underrepresented in VLOG content.

Is anyone worried about James? He's playing so bad now that he's embarrassed to show his hand. You can save the nitty gritty breakdown of the -EV postflop plays by getting rid of the -EV preflop plays.

Why don't you show whole cards?
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
I normally do, but decided to mix it up for this video since my hole cards would just distract from the actual lesson imo.
@DarkTruth12 жыл бұрын
@@ThePokerBank Sure I guess I understand why you may think that, but why not show even after your explanation of each hand? If anything I'm more distracted with why you don't show. I also have it engraved into my head not to trust anyone's "word" what they "had" unless I see it first hand or truly have a TON of history with that person(This is almost never). Players shouldn't be distracted about your hand if what you're saying is true about it and it has no connection to the board but when you hide it, it looks way more skeptical and dishonest. One basic and universal thing people learn about opponents talking about bluffing but don't show it, is that they're lying to get more action later and/or they're not perceived as a nit. Not saying this is the case with you, but by default, I personally don't believe unless I see it and it could be this is why. Seeing the cards is half the reason people watch. Aside from this, Imo, I don't think its great to teach people that your cards don't matter in some spots. Whether that's your goal or not, essentially its what youre doing by hiding your cards and saying they no connected to the board. It's like showing them how NOT to use the tools given to them. A huge component to bluffing is using key cards to bluff with. Whether they block or unblock hands.

Do you just play 1/2 for the purpose of videos? I see you at OC from time to time… (I play full time 2/5, 5/5, and 5/10 at oc) Just confused as to why I never see you in the 2/5 streets. 1/2 sucks.

If a guy show his hand on a tight fold, expect him to play mode defense in the rest of the session, he don't plan to hero fold again !

Why do the other poker channels not talk about this channel? Seems alot of the other poker content out there seem to reference each other but I've never heard the poker bank mentioned or splitsuit mentioned by any other content creators. Bart Hanson, Jonathan Little, Doug Polk, only friends with Berkey, Negreanu , Joey Ingram, these channels know and speak of one another but I never heard James Sweeny aka Splitsuit ever mentioned. Is this channel just that different from other strategy channels?
@tgo0072 жыл бұрын
I mean the people you named won millions. Splitsuit grinds out a respectable living but it's not millions. I do agree, Split has a talent for teaching and explaining tho. But credibility matters a lot. You can be the best teacher but if you grind low stakes. People won't care.
@StreetSoulLover2 жыл бұрын
First hand, agreed, a x/r on this turn makes no sense, you lead all turns with value as you need to start building a pot. As for the 2nd hand, this seems suicidal, villain is potting the flop and degen 1/3 villains don't come to fold overpairs regardless of what falls. I learnt a long time ago not to try and get low stakes players to fold overpairs.

2nd hand, I thought your range was too tight. HJ raises to 15 PF after essentially a R and C, then CB ~80% pot, folds to your shove. Sounds like a recreational player who thinks he should raise with any playable hand (77+, KT+, Ax) - but his raise is TOO SMALL; then he CB because that's what he thinks he is supposed do as the PF raiser - probable has 2 overs or Ax.. This sounds like my buddies in my home game (pre covid)!

If that's the assumption, our XR gets better and better since things like AK, AQ, KQ, etc. will melt away vs. the XR!
