Important note regarding semi-bluffs/bluffs in HJ's range here -- since there's already someone allin and no sidepot, there's very little to be gained through bluffing. Even if they successfully make everyone else fold, they still have to beat the original player who went allin. So even the best case scenario for a bluff is not a good one.

Question only tangentially related: is villain allowed to have bluffs in a multi-way $0 side pot? I assume they have to have some just not for an all in sizing but it is a weird spot where I just don’t see what bluffing does unless they can take it down on a later street.
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
Because there is a main pot, bluffing and immediately clearing out the side pot player's equity doesn't really accomplish anything with a $0 side pot.

Good stuff. Glad to see that my strategy would have been the one you suggested, especially with a rainbow flop and only a couple straight draw cards...when there's both a flush draw and straight draw is when I might fast play...of course depending on who's at the table!

3:41 Really? I thought one of the hallmark of low stakes players was having an inelastic calling range.
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
It's typically inelasticity up until major psychological price thresholds

There are games at this level in which there are players that can’t/won’t fold top pair or any draw, so maybe the player thought someone was donkey enough to call it, I’ve seen it. Also I’ve been in games where I’ve been donked into with a bluffs when holding a set. The times I try to let them hang themselves they seem to get there with gutshots or running cards that could be going though the players mind as well
@electricfeel95012 жыл бұрын
true i've seen it a couple of times where a player with top pair or draw will go all in against a set on the flop. both are really bad plays haha. However I def learn something from this video; slow play sets to get max value. a lot of bad players get too excited and overbet then dont get max value. finally fix a leak in my game

Do you do hand reviews still? I want to share some hands I’ve been playing at $10/$20 Bovada (2000 NL 6 max). I am not good enough for the stakes I don’t think, but I am rolled to play those games from my sports betting wins Thanks

I'm not drawing from those hands atm, but I think you should post a few over in the RCP Discord if you haven't already: redchippoker.com/discord

Hey James, I’m a regular at Orange City and I have a question. I get the idea of opening preflop to 3x the blinds from a math standpoint, but at almost any table I play at the standard open seems to be $10-$12 (5x-6x) with most people sitting with 100 BBs. As you mentioned in the video opening to $6 sometimes works- why do you not open for $10 or $12 like so many others do? Thanks
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
Most players are losing players, so why would I model my strategy around doing as they do?

What would you think about a min raise here?
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
A small raise, even a min raise, is reasonable (especially if you think villain would ever get away from Tx/JJ+ on later streets)

Wow you called …i don’t disagree too often but this analysis misses the mark with 4 other players in the hand. I play too much online, no live. I think there are way too many hands that would call. Draws etc. maybe 3 way but not in this case.

So you think I should fold to the $45 bet? Just trying to make sure I'm understanding your original comment
@iambraveru2 жыл бұрын
@@ThePokerBank yes fold. I should have elaborated when I mentioned I play online only and it is micro stakes. Your play was way to wide for online. That said when I watch many live vlogs and poker streams ie the lodge, Brad Owen etc . Plus a few others the play too me can get crazy wide…it’s a different beast. Best of luck always. I love the learning process.

@@ThePokerBank maybe, but I worked in a Casino for a decade, I've seen more gambling opinions and millions of hands to know that they're all faulted. And every one of them bragged about how good it was. Yet I had access to their annual buy ins and cash outs to know the truth. ✌️
