2 Ways to Calm Audition Nerves

Hello! If you have an audition coming up, or have one very soon, remember this. YOU GOT THIS! Take deep breaths and concentrate on only yourself and what you are saying and doing. Don't concentrate on your surroundings. Like the judges, they WILL be looking at you. But DO NOT be scared! They have to do this in order to see if you are ready. Try not to act nervous and shy, be confident and say everything with pride. Push those scared nerves away, relax and breathe. Don't let anyone tell you are bad or don't deserve this. You can control what happens. Practice your lines/lyrics so you know them by heart. Try writing the lyrics or lines to help remember them. And one important thing, do not think negative thoughts. Like, "You can't do this!" or, "You'll never make it, you aren't good enough!". Those are lies because you CAN and you WILL make this. Think thoughts like, "You will make it," or "Be confident, strong, and fearless!" and it helps a lot to push those mean thoughts away. Here's a tip, if you are acting. Try to talk a little slower than normal. This gives you a little bit more time to think of your next line. Don't talk TOO slow though. Not like saying a word every 10 seconds. Just don't speed it up, plus, judges love it when you talk slowly and clearly and not super fast and hard to understand. Also, actions and facial expressions help SO MUCH! Try to use your hands and incorporate them into your act. Don't flail your arms up in the air and be crazy. You know, just subtle and simple hand gestures. It really ties the whole thing together. I hope you do really well and achieve your dream! Good luck, and remember, you can control it. Don't let nerves take away your chance❤😍👍 (Also, sorry this was so long, but I just wanted everyone to be prepared and have a good audition!)

Maybe this strategy works best for self-tapes. And if an actor takes this to a physical audition space… let us know how it felt to plank in front of a room full of other actors. I feel like that would make me even more nervous and insecure to have everyone watching me, and/or obviously avoiding eye contact while I’m preparing.
