In this video I am showing how to disable "AFS OFF" warning light on the dashboard after installing aftermarket LED headlights on my 2007 Lexus IS350. The new headlights are not compatible with the AFS system and I had to disable it. You can do it by either disconnecting AFS ECU, or by removing the AFS fuse.

Great video. I removed the fuse first following the fuse diagram but no joy.. Removed the Afs ecu and all good now! Was absolutely annoying me when turning around a corner being a different colour to my main bulb!

@@DarkOneK2S I have two rows of Fuses on the front left inside the cabin under the Glove box (UK Model/RHD). When i pulled 10 AMP fuse no. 52 the AFS light went but it triggered yellow triangle light and stability control light. It's easy to access on the RHD/UK model of RX400H.

If your car's "AFS OFF" indicator stays on but NOT flashing at first when you turn on/start your car, it means that you have pressed the "AFS OFF" button, normally located above the gas door opener button, by mistake! All you have to do is to turn OFF the button by pressing it to turn off the "AFS OFF" feature!

That all works when you have good functioning AFS headlights. In my case #1 the headlights were broken and that ☝🏻 option didn’t work. #2 I replaced headlights with aftermarket ones without AFS. The ECU is not detecting original headlights and throwing the warning light.

RX350 2009 - Dealer diagnostics said Steering sensor probably bad $500 plus 4 hours labor and then possibly the ECU if it did not fix it. My fuse #18 is bundled with other important circuits so it had to stay. I did not have to remove carpet as ECU was tucked high up but right in the area of your video. It is disconnected now , AFS light is off. I rarely drive at night anyway and don't need the feature. Thank you!

I removed the fuse and sadly nothing happened except my awd came on as well. Put the fuse back in place and went back to normal with the afs light still flashing. Gonna look for a new alternative

Not sure, but usually it’s either in the same place as on my car, or in the same place but on the passenger side. What you can do is go to a website that sells this part, and they usually have a diagram showing where it’s located on the actual car. I hope this helps.

To clarify, My 2007 IS350 has auto leveling and HID system. I see aftermarket assemblies say they are not compatible with cars with OEM HID and leveling. Why is this? will the replacement assemblies not physically fit or is it that they will fit but not compatible with factory HID and leveling therfore those systems will be disabled? Am I able to use most any spyder brand assemblies? thanks for the help.

Yes, you are correct, they will physically fit, but they don’t work with those factory features, and you will loose that functionality. You will also get a AFS Off warning ⚠️ light on dashboard, which you can disable by pulling off the fuse.

WHY!? I’m not sure why anyone would knowingly delete AFS or any type of dynamic leveling/turning headlights. They are such a huge benefit for driving at night. I just can’t see having them and then purposely replacing them with a set of headlight housings that don’t include the same features that I bought the car with. Although I did retrofit an AFS system into my Corolla so my lights could turn ahead for me. I also have quad RX350’s bi-xenon’s with ZKW-R clear lenses one set is in AFS mounts and turns with the wheel. They all auto level going up and down hill. But that was a lot of work to figure out. Leveling sensors in the front and back of the car needed to be installed and wired in and all the other wiring and fuses and I believe a relay too. All had to be installed to get the lights to auto level and one set to turn ahead in the turns with the steering wheel. But it’s been one of the most satisfying retrofits ever. It’s in my 2006 Corolla XRS and it has diode dynamics SS3 Max fog lights in 3000K and the combo between quad RX 350’s with Osram CBB’s and Morimoto variable ballasts. They run 35 watts in low beam but when you pull high beam stalk it boosts ballasts to 50 watts. So you end up with 200 watts of HID power in high beam mode and 140 watts in low beam mode total. When they’re in quad mode on, plus the 40 watts or so each for LED fogs. I have two more sets of lights in my bumper that are diode dynamics SS2 pods surface mounted on the front bumper. There are 4 all together and since they’re very small they are hard to notice on a black car. But two are driving or like a high beam, and the other two spot. And those are set up on a switch each. They can be used with the high beams automatically with the switch. Or you can turn the switch off for them and they won’t activate with the bixenons. They always come on with the high beams, but it’s whether you want them on with the headlights or not. Combined with the quad high beams, the four SS2’s and the two SS3 Max wide/fogs all on (yes my fogs stay on with high beams if I want them too. I can toggle a switch where they turn off when high beams are active like stock, or I can run them together. But when all lights are on together it is unbelievable how far and wide you can see. Now I only use this setup when I am on back roads with little to no ambient lighting and no cars around, or on long dark freeway stretches where there are no towns and no lights and no cars at night. And let me tell you, when you turn those lights on when you’re driving alone out there in the dark, it is amazing! You feel like you could drive 150 mph and still see out far enough that you don’t feel like anything will sneak up on you in the distance. It’s just insane how far lighting has come. Because I’m order to get that kind of lighting power in the past you really needed a lot of size in the lighting optics. And these are all mounted in the stock small lights of my headlights and fog lights minus the four small SS2’s which are only about 1 1/2” tall but about 2 1/2” to 3” wide. So other than those four lights which together are smaller than my two fog lights, all the lights fit inside my stock housings. Which is incredible to me. Seeing how far lighting has advanced in the 16 years since my car was new.

I installed aftermarket headlights but the AFS off light came on I realized the after market headlight doesn’t come with a ballast and after I installed the ballast on the new headlight the ASF light went off.

I had two issues. ABS/wheel speed sensor wire was damaged. And bearing hub gone bad too. I already replaced both and the light was gone.

Your headlights may stop auto leveling or get stuck in one position. My lights were broken, and I just replaced them with aftermarket ones. They were cheaper than OEM, and look better than originals, but they don’t support AFS.

I don’t think VSC is related to AFS. Scan your car for error codes, it will give you a better idea as what might be wrong with it.

I had the same issue with yellow triangle light illuminating when removed the fuse But the other method worked fine without triggering other warning lights. You can safely just unplug the wiring looms from AFS BCM/ECU.

At least two reasons: 1) if your AFS is broken and you just want to disable it without having to pay Lexus thousands of dollars 💵 to fix it. 2) if you replace your headlights with LED aftermarket ones, that doesn’t have AFS feature, you will get that light on the dashboard. Just because you dont understand what it is for, not a reason to call video bogus and useless. It helped thousands of grateful people and will probably help more in the future.
