if i got solar on the roof id run miners from sunrise to sunset. feed in tarifs are way too low. also using the heat could cut some other bills. even in summertime a normal household needs warm water after all. in the end its nice to mine if you got diamond hands. if you need to sell your bitcoins to pay the electricity bills its hard to pay off a serious mining rig.

I work on Antminer S19 farm with over 3,5k miners. S19 has a lot of types. I work with 15 different s19 types. Just never get ones with Aluminum hasboards. Most of issues with S19 are HBs and the biggest problem with miners that have AL HBs is that they don't work with 2HB and it is difficult to diagnose which HB is broken. Have CB and PSU in stock, order few cables( ribbon, power and communication ones). And have same type of miners. Easer to maintain if something breaks

Remember, even with a solar farm, you can't think of your energy as free. You have to count it as the same cost that you could sell it to the power company. If you can sell it for a nickel, it's costing you a nickel to use it.

So you saying if I grow tomatoes if I sold them for $1/lb when I could get down the street I'm losing money? As in Costco of mining BTC vs direct sell back to the grid... Maybe not at all times, but mining BTC will always be more profitable than simply selling energy at market price. I would assume 90% of the time I had to, besides maybe times such as these in a deep bear market. That's why confidence long term investors out preform short term gains, Make SACRIFICES and grind harder!!

There are so many things you're failing to consider. It's NOT just opportunity cost. Electricity costs include generation, transmission and distribution. Then, there’s costs associated with obtaining BTC. If you're a Company that produces BTC as a byproduct of using electricity, then that cost becomes a write-off. If you buy BTC, without producing it, it's just a capital gain. Not sure where you're at, but it's not just about the opportunity cost of one Input versus the other. Just sayin'.

If you can make more cash or more coin by turning the miner off and selling the electricity, you'd be stupid to run the miner. And, this is a calculation that could easily change day to day based on current mining difficulty and coin prices. All of that stuff you are saying about writing off your solar panels is true regardless of how you are making the money from them.
