I appreciate watching all the prep and unfolding of the trailer as well as all the rigging that goes with each load. It shows others that might not know what actually happens. I mean, it's part of the job so why not show it? It definitely makes for a more interesting video than just a ride-a-long. I enjoyed it very much compared to other trucking channels that only show a very brief ultra fast time-lapse of their transport. Great camera angles help too! You've earned my sub after watching a few other videos, but definitely from this one and the longer extended version, because of the explanation and showing what you're rigging up while you're doing it. Also, hearing the truck run rather than the music all the time would be a nice addition, even with the wind lol!

Have always loved Peterbilts and Cummins power, but don’t care for the automatic trans, they seem to keep the rpm higher than what I like to run my engine at, I find that 18 spd double over and about a 4.30 axle ratio with 565 H.P. 2050 ft lb of torque with 24.5 rubber is a nice spec for hauling heavy loads. Just the vibration of the trailer going down the road. Honestly I go though 2 or 3 per month. They are mounted on that rear flip axle which is attached to the trailer by pins so it gets a lot of vibration.

There’s a couple of municipalities in Easter Pa that even if your permitted by the state, they will still stop you and issue fines! Their excuse Is, even though the state permitted the load, you still have to get approval from the township!! So, watch if you ever get to Go through Exton, from the Pa. Turnpike.

Yes this truck has an Allison automatic. No auxiliary. It does the job but it is not my favorite truck I have driven

I’ll start by saying I’m not a fan of automatics just because I’m proud to say I can shift a truck and pull 200,000 lbs up a steep grade without missing. That being said so far this transmission is doing its job although I haven’t had the truck long enough to test it in all conditions.

They sometimes remove the buckets and put them on a flatbed depending on where the loader is going. The bucket alone weighs 10,000 lbs and requires a bigger trailer just to carry the extra weight. Depending on the state the bigger trailers sometimes require police escorts and the cost is cheaper to just send the bucket on a separate truck.

I’ve never weighed exactly the big 10x12’s but I would guess 200+lbs. If I grab them in a bear hug like a human being I can lift them but usually I just lift one end at a time and flip them. The big tarps weigh about the same.

We are paid based on the equipment we are using. The pay starts at $28 and goes up to $45. The more complex the equipment and load, the more it pays!

I noticed when you were leaving out of the loading site, the wheels of the front loader hit the ground. Is that normally not a big deal, even if it happens while on the roads at higher speeds? Great videos, I put it on while at work for some background entertainment.

Dragging the wheels is not recommended at higher speeds. It’s fine if you’re going slowly and being gentle. In this case there is a high center crown in the road when leaving the customer but I know it’s only going to touch lightly so that’s fine. If I come to a bigger obstacle like a set of raised train tracks I will get out and physically lift the trailer higher to avoid damage. Unfortunately we need to run them low to the ground because we are maxed out for the height on the overpasses.

Every state and province has different escort requirements. With this trailer configuration and these types of loads places like Ontario and Illinois do not require an escort however an escort was required in Michigan and Indiana. When the video was being filmed from behind obviously the camera was mounted on an escort. Unfortunately there is a lot of competition in this business and there is no budget to hire escorts which are not required by law.

If the machinery pick up is union shop they get in trouble for helping. With the load on your rig being your liability there are some drivers that get po if you try to help. just a couple of reasons they might now have stepped up.

The south truck traffic at Sarnia / Port Huron is unreal. Hopefully the new bridge in Detroit will take some of the pressure off when it is completed.

These loads had pilot cars for some portions of the trip only. The requirements for pilot cars varies from state to state and province to province. Where the camera is following the load obviously there was a pilot car involved! Lol

Same power X15 565. I havn’t had the chance to run beside any of our other trucks to see who out pulls who yet. This truck seems to run a little hotter. The fan does kick in more often. But I haven’t had it long enough to really learn it yet.
