Well hearing this patients experience with pain makes me feel a lot better. I had calcifications removed, which left a large defect in the tendon. This led to a rotator cuff repair that was not expected. I had a Subacromial decompression. I also had a biceps tenodesis. I’ve been feeling kind of down that I’ve had difficulty sleeping, but hearing this younger patients experience with sleeping with just the decompression makes me feel so much better.

@@TheShoulderGuide I don’t know if this surgery totally helped my whole problem out. I have told my surgeon and and another surgeon that I have pain in the arm area. It’s the area that the bicep brachii is at. It has gotten worse since my recent surgery. I describe the pain as it being tight in that area and almost feeling numb.

I had a posterior labral repair done on 12/28/22, and while I thought that was all we were going to do, my surgeon also performed a subacromial decompression. To my surpise, I was placed in a sling without an abduction pillow, and positioned in an interally rotated manner to where to my elbow/arm was bent across my stomach. My hand was literally pressed against my stomach. The brace felt like a sling for an elbow injury, and didn't keep me at the neutral position where its close to the side of the side of the body with the pillow preventing total internal rotation (had my left shoulder should 7 months prior with another surgeon, so I know how it was supposed to be positioned). I was very confused, and when I raised concerns I was told the position / type of brace isn't a big deal... my symptoms included a numb hand at night, healing in a position that felt like it was pulled my scapula in a protruded manner, and a think lump under the bandage of the front (anterior) incision. The front incision felt VERY irritated, and could feel it was thick beneath the bandage. My opinion is the internally rotated position put unnecessary pressure on the healing area, which wouldh ave been prevented with an abduction pillow allowing space for it to heal / breathe better. 10 Days or so after surgery I go in to have the stitches removed, and that front incision is VERY infected - pus, yellow discoloration / red dots around that area, and some other odd symptoms included a very cold / discolored hand, almost as if it was purple and not getting any circulation. I am also 6'4 with extreme hyperflexibility, and a history of degenerative disc disease with a bulging disc at the c5-c6 level, so not having a sturdy brace that kept my shoulder blades retracted in its socket allowed my shoulder to fall forward and hurt my entire posture. I just recently did research on what the subacromial decompression is, the risks / complications, and I fear that something was irritated during the shaving of the AC joint, and also that by removing that piece of bone, the collarbone isn't staying up and supporting my neck as strong as it previously did. Is this a possibility? My cervical literally feels diagonally slanted to the right, and my shoulder blade/collarbone (only on the right shoulder side) feels like its either hiking way up or falling way down. Any thoughts on what could have happened? I am just afraid a nerve was irritated, or that I never fully healed because of my size / weak brace, and then went into PT after 5 weaks with terrible posture and hurt it further.
@Richietwaits
@Richietwaits Жыл бұрын
I do PT 3 times a week, and in between that do a bunch of internal/external rotator cuff exercises with bands, pull down, and rows. The therapist I had I think overpushed it and had me doing 30LB rows / pull down about a month into our PT sessions, so roughly 2 - 2 1/2 months after surgery. My shoulder blade feels forced back, and when I try to shrug and pull it back into its socket, tons of clicking and popping like its rubbing against something while going back into place. Its not just staying in the socket though, and my "natural" position is my arm falling down and backwards while the blade hikes up. I don't know what to do.

I was suffering from subacromial decompression for last 3 years. 7 different doctor told me that I need subacromial decompression surgery. Then I met another doctor in Bangladesh, he showed me via live ultrasonography that one of my muscle in the shoulder is wasted and severely restricted. He said subacromial decompression surgery is never needed but doctors just push it on the patients. The main problem is with muscle health. He treated me with 3 hydrodilation injection. From the 2nd month onward all the symptoms started to improve and currently I'm in my 6th month since I got my 1st injection. Finally I'm cured.

Sorry to the delayed response. Are you working with a physical therapist now? I can't give any specific recommendations, but many of the videos you might see on this channel are the kinds of things I start my patients with. Then we progress to push up, resisted cable pull down, and rows as soon as tolerated. It all depends on the personal training history and age.

No tears no where just those 2 repairs. I'm 2 weeks post surgery. Doc wants me in physical therapy asap but the location can't see me till another 2 weeks 🙃. I been doing PT at home via KZbin videos.

I'm two weeks in from subacromial decompression with removal of calcific deposits (Massive amount per the op report). Also had a bioinductive implant installed over the tendon and humerous where the deposits were removed. I'm two weeks in and I wish I was at 90 degrees. I was ordered to wear the sling until about day 11 and since I removed it I can feel some ROM coming back but it's slow going.

I'm so confused, I have shoulder pain for over a year had 2 ultrasounds showed a tear in supraspinatus tendon , had guided injection to help ease pain , 3 weeks later pain comes back , have a MRI showed a full thickness tear of supraspinatus tendon, August this year I have shoulder surgery, I wake up in recovery surgeon says couldn't see a tear but we've done decompression surgery , I'm in the exact same pain prior to surgery, had new MRI 3 days ago showing a tear , but surgeon says there is no tear , I'm so lost pain keeps me up at night it's so sharp in supraspinatus area when I lift arm out to the side , if a radiologist reports a tear on a MRI how can a surgeon say there's no tear , but I'm in agony , physio is lost on this one , is it possible to have a tear inside the tendon but the outside be ok of the tendon
@alyokin

I wish there was a reply, this is exactly what I experienced. The MRI showed 10mm tear, the surgeon said there’s no tear and did decompression along with other ‘house keeping’. I’m only one week out of surgery and I’ve luckily had minimal discomfort in this phase of recovery so it’s too soon to say if I will have pain in mobility further down the road. I would love to know if the tear could have healed since the MRI was several months ago.

@@alyokin same story here. On 20/09/2023 Sept i had MRi of rt shoulder and as per MRI i had a Supraspinatus tendinosis witha high grade intratendinous delaminated near complete thickness tear; acromio-clavicular joint arthopathy and fluid in subacromial-subdeltoid bursa and superior subscapularis recess. After surgery on 28/11/2023 i was told that there was no tear and they just did subacromial decompression surgery. Today on 49th day post surgery my pain has increased since last one week or so and i have started experiencing pain on just lifting my arm up. How's ur condition now ? DO you havepainless full ROM ?

I was told I had "subacromial impingement syndrome bicipital tendinitis"--it happened in May while turning a bolt on a riding mower with a wrench while lying on my left side....lots of pain now when moving my right arm behind my back, such as removing something from my back right pocket. It got better for a month after the injury but after 3 months the pain was growing much worse and have had to use Icy Hot often though the day and finally saw a shoulder doctor. Dr. gave an injection to the fron and back sides, but only was sore for a few days but no real improvement. He then ordered an MRI but I have not heard the results after 2 weeks. Possibly a bone spur? Is conservative treatment possible?

This is exactly the kind of surgery I am thinking of getting, so I appreciate this video. However, I am getting up in age (late 50s) and will have to take time off work. I am leery because I had 2 very minor surgeries in my 20s and did not recover well. Also the doctor told me that once he goes in if he finds he need to do more that the cleaning out, I could be out of work for up to 6 to 8 weeks. Am still seriously considering it as I am so tired of the pain and numbness throughout my arm and sometimes my shoulder blade and the top of my shoulder and neck. I've already tried therapy and still getting cortisone shots.

So, I’m disappointed with how things are going since my surgery. Before my surgery I complained of pain in the distal bicep area also, right above my elbow. It’s more a tight Feeling. The surgeon never took a look at that during surgery and now I hurt more there than I did before. Also, last Friday at the doctor I was told I could do the pendulum swings, move my lower arm, hand and wrist. I’ve been doing that. The upper arm and shoulder had been glued to my body. On Tuesday I had a question for my doctor and she told me I couldn’t do small range motion exercises with my arm and shoulder. I said I have no clue what to do. I asked her when I can drive. She said I could start driving now. I was shocked. I told her that I can barely lift my arm and I can’t straighten it. So, she said no to driving. I was told to keep my arm in a sling except for doing those exercises moving my lower arm, hand and wrist till I get there on Tuesday.

Also, she checked out my bicep and ulnar nerve. She says something is going on there. She said that the ulnar nerve is very inflamed. So, she said once my shoulder starts feeling better she said she will send me for an MRI. She said with just having surgery I would be in to much pain for them to position my arm for the bicep area and ulnar nerve
