I had rotator cuff (Supra spinatus) and biceps tendonisis repairs , after debridement on 11/26/24. Though my repair was at the top end of the biceps, why do I have tenderness/soreness at the bottom of the biceps just above the elbow? Is there anything to do to alleviate that tenderness? Thanks so much!

I am 3 weeks out with a full tear of the supraspinatus, bicep tenedisis and subacromial decompression. My surgeon has me out of the sling a good part of the day. While sitting at my desk, eating and simple tasks. My pain is no more than an ache and PT is going very well.

I just had rotator cuff repair surgery Tuesday of this week (11/26). I had an awesome pain block that lasted until yesterday (11/28). I took pain meds every 6 hrs yesterday as directed and iced it every 20 minutes. Today I'm feeling much better, no pain meds. I was told to exercise my elbow by taking the brace off and stretching my arm down by my side. That actually feels pretty good. I'm squeezing an exercise ball as well. The surgery was on my non dominant arm (thank God). I was allowed to shower and wash my hair last night after applying waterproof bandages to the surgical site. My post-op appointment is Tuesday afternoon, 12/3. I'm hoping to start therapy pretty quickly as I need to be back at work in six weeks. I work in Admissions at our local hospital so there's no strenuous activity involved. I sit at a desk and type, scan documents when needed and admit patients face to face for outpatient procedures and inpatient surgeries. I'm hoping for full recovery sooner rather than later. I had an excellent surgeon so I am confident in the surgical procedure and his judgement. What should I expect the first week or two of therapy?

Thank you for all your help! Most informative! Do you have much experience with anterior dislocation? When I feel good I want to move it..taped it and am back to square one, after three weeks! Hurting all night from the movement I did for KT taping. So movement, but what do I need to be careful not to do exactly? Should my elbow be tight to my ribs or with a spacer for blood flow?

11/4/24. I'm 60 and very active. Left shoulder first, then right. Both sub acromial and clavicular decompression/resection on the end. And not found till in there, a torn bicep tendon, relocated. Over head work for decades in the auto industry. 10 days in and it moves. Nearly died in the first PT session. Feeling better and can sleep now. Pretty much off the oxy. Pro tip, order a Breg Polar cooler. Cold is your sanity. This will hurt.

Thanks for the video. I hurt my shoulder yanking a shopping bag out of a cart. The bag was hooked on part of the bottom of the cart. When I yanked on the bag I felt and heard a pop in my shoulder. I gave it a couple weeks, to see if it would feel better. It didn't. I had researched surgery vs therapy. I went to the bone & joint Dr. After pushing his hand in an outward way, it hurt, and he said you need surgery. I had already had surgery on my other shoulder. I told the Dr. I would like to try therapy. He said some of his patients had good results from therapy. Started therapy, and told them that I have a tear on my rotator cuff, so there were certain things I wouldn't do. They agreed. I've been going twice a week for 6 weeks, and I'm doing great. Almost pain free. Still more therapy to go, but I'm fairly certain I won't need surgery.

I find my sling gives me so much trouble and pain (including migraines). I’ve just purchased a new sling like the one you use on these videos - wore it today for first time. I ditched last sling 8 days after Op. I tried again after two week check up but putting sling on and off again just gave me pain - aching pain. Today is day 16. No pain or inflammation unless I use sling. Started exercises 2 days after Op. I staunchly hold arm by my side - often belted from elbow to other side. I’ve tried to wear sling but I feel trapped. I’m a Landscaper - I’ve got no health issues. I feel like I’m the only one who can’t adjust! It was a basic Supra spinatus repair - Op was straightforward and I didn’t need any strong pain killers. Your videos are brilliant - clear and informative. They’ve clarified things no end. Fiona

These look familiar, when I had a partially torn rotator cuff and labrum PT had me doing the same exercises, mind you with resistance bands but still good times.
@TheShoulderGuideАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing! Those exercises really are the classics for shoulder recovery, especially for rotator cuff and labrum injuries. Progressing to cable variations can be great for building more strength and resilience in the shoulder.

So, I have a question. I’ve had a shoulder surgery which was just a distal clavicle excision and subacromial decompression. Nothing more done but I’ve still been in pain the past 2 years. So, I’ve been to another surgeon and he said I have impingement but my question is,, how can I have impingement if I have already had the subacromial decompression surgery? I have since then had a c t arthrogram and it shows I have torn labrum and a chondromalacia.

I was told that you dont use the pillow anymore because if the reattachment of the tendon can't heal without the pillow it will rip off the bone when you remove the pillow. I has a supraspinatus surgery and it came loose again.

My husband had reverse shoulder surgery & is now three weeks in.. when taking a shower, exercising, etc he forgets & moves his arm. Call me a stickler but I even tie his arm down close to his body while showering so he won't move it up or outward. After sleeping in his recliner for two weeks & witnessing the pain he's endured I'm making sure his healing is as successful as possible till his shoulder is properly healed.

I have had Both shoulders done. My Advice is screw exercises or physio and get the surgery ASAP. The sooner you get it the faster you will forget it. My Dr's Fed around and left me in torture and agony for years. they finally listened to me and gave me the surgery and a month or two later you are pain free and living life again! I had impingement and all my GP heard was Frozen shoulder. Yes I had frozen shoulder as a result of the Impingement which he didn't seem to care about. After I pulled enough of his teeth I got a surgeon consult. He wanted to wait a year and try Cortisone injections (Which hurt like hell) and Physio. It was a complete waste of my life, Insist on the surgery! its quick. and you start healing. Also The pain from the Surgeries NOTHING compared to the agony of impingement. Nothing! Hope this helps someone. Good luck with your journey.

As of writing this, I’m 4 days in, super sore with restricted ROM but, I can already tell it’s something I should have done many years ago. I have to wait 14mths maybe longer for Subcromial decompression n Arthritis scraping. It's still painful at times when I do too much or sleep on it too long trying gentle weights this is painful too, trying to keep it moving somehow.

I had both done, one 2018 and the other one 2024. I wish things were as easy as asking for surgery. Insurances make doctors go through steps before they will consider paying for the surgery even when doctors do peer to peer. Even after going through physical therapy injections and chiropractor insurance denied part of the surgery. I had different insurance in 2018 and that insurance also makes you go through the steps.
