I think people under estimate the overall difficulty of such a task that this man accomplished. The strength, the accuracy, time management (seasons, weather, daylight), the mental aspect (being secluded, wild animals, not close to healthcare, absent from family), oh and documenting all of it, editing and everything else that I missed. My Daddy built the house I grew up in, and there aren't many men like him and you left in the world--you're the true heroes! He passed away in September, and my life will never be the same. Several years ago, Daddy and I picked out a spot on our land for a cabin, but for now, I just have to enjoy others building them--this one is spectacular!

I make no judgement in what caused this persons renal failure. At the age of 60, I was disgusted with my health and realized if I didn’t change my diet, I would face a disease ridden senior life. I changed my diet to LOW CARB…in 10 months, I lost 50 lbs, got off 7 medications and had the best blood test results ever. I eat one 2k-2.5k calorie meal a day between 4-8pm. I fast 20 hours per day and I walk 8 miles every other day. I still follow this way of eating and exercise.

Average cost of a private college education in the US today is $36k, in 1970 it was $1800. 2/3 the average salary today. A bit over 1/4 the average salary in 1970. Average renters in 1970 paid a little over a 1/4 of their monthly income on rent. Today Average renters pay nearly 1/2 of their earnings on rent. Average Salaries for college grads is even more stark. In 1970 it was 10k. Today it is 55k. An average home today costs 8 full college grad yearly salaries. In 1970 it only cost 2 1/2. It was a blessing in disguise that the neighbor from his first home caused so much problems. It was a sad day when he announced he was selling and starting all over again. I remember thinking then that the Lord was going to give him a better home and more beautiful piece of land. Many Men have the financial ability to support such an undertaking yet lack the skills ,stamina ,mental and physical ability while many men only lack the financial ability to achieve such a task. A task such as this takes so much more than what is being shown. Success must first be achieved in society in order to be able to fund such an undertaking. Hats off to you for such a very hard journey and work in order to even be able to start a project like this. I sure hope someone who receives this one day understands what it took to happen. Absolutely incredible watching the seasons change during the build, fit and finish of this cabin is astounding, the will and determination is off the charts.The ridge beam and purlins and the trust you had with that cable and hoist system, it is incredible that you were not seriously injured alone in the middle of nowhere, you must have spent weeks, just keeping the tools sharp. I have never witnessed anything like this in my entire life, absolutely incredible, my friend. I must say how impressed that I am. My shoulders ache watching this, but I know how rewarding it feels when structures come to fruition. You really know your stuff.. with brace and bit, no less. I've designed (drawn on paper) things and built them by hand, and know how much work it can be.

This longer version is better than the more condensed one. I said you did a great job of editing out the gristle to leave just meat. si, tienes total razon, solo debemos ver si cuando llega el verano el reforesta los espacios vacios con nuevas plantas, arboles y pinos, esto lo hacen hoy dia muchas personas consientes de la deforestacion que han echo. Hola Julio todo lo que tu comenta me parece muy bien pero por lo que yo e visto no me parece que a la pineda le tenca mucho amor la cantida de arboles que talo fue bestial para construir una cabagna donde con porcetaje mucho menor era suficiente . Que clase de planeta les vamos adejar a las siquiente generaciones . Telo dice uun abuelo prosimo a cunplir 80 agnos un abrazo

Shawn, what can I say ? You're THE MAN ! You literally built this incredibly spacious and high quality cabin all by yourself (Including working straight through the Winter months). This is a lasting personal accomplishment and provision for your family. When you're old, and sitting in your rocking chair by the fire, then you can look around at all you survey and be satisfied in the work of hour hands. You are a focused and determined craftsman. This is a very inspiring feat, and it is no small thing you have done, Sir ! I salute you. 👌👍😃

now i've watched loads of builds from a wide range of people. im 15 minutes into this and i have two points to make. he knows construction, which makes this alot more streamlined workflow wise and he is freakishly strong yet he seems like such a gentleman. you have to respect such a man. im looking forward to watching the rest and there is no doubt i will be following the channel from now on. blessings

In the past 2 weeks, I have enjoyed watching different individuals build log cabins usually alone and off grid….love, love love the logs and how they look! My ghast is flabbered! Awesome work! ❤
