Good afternoon mike just following up with my health and stuff in 2 years here at 67 years old. At home I had high blood pressure 3 medications with insulin. Neuralathy. Degenerative disk. Chronic pIn. After 2 years. I've lost 40 lbs. No more blood pressure meds.Diabetes medication cut in half. No cholesterol problems. Great blood tests. I credit this to Philippines diet. Fresh fruit and veggies every day. No soda. Very little drinking. Great video Mike! Always enjoyable. BTW. I heard the other day you had another Charles out here. I'm CharlesF from San Carlos Negros Occidental. God Bless you 3!

Just don't eat at Jolibee 😂. In all seriousness though many people throw shade at the Filipino food here. Truth is much of it is junk and awful for your health. Like anywhere in world if you stick to low sugar and healthy organic foods you will get better outcomes. If you're an old guy here be sure to keep health checks always

Only been here for 2 months in Bohol, loving the place and people. Met a wonderful women in church.Very shy, we talk on Facebook messenger every night for hours, even though I can walk to her house in 2. minutes. That has made her a lot less shy speaking English in front of me when we do meet everyday. She asked me if I would have a courtship with her in front of her family. When I do I earn her respect and the love of her family. Highly recommend doing that and meeting someone in church.

Your story matches my story in many ways. However, I haven't found a "Janet" yet. Very beautiful, touching story. I experienced a lot of bad things in Afghanistan, among other places. Here I have the opportunity to find myself and every minute here is valuable. In contrast to your story, I initially sought solitude in nature. I crossed the entire island of Mindoro mostly on foot. Now in Davao I am around people a lot again and can enjoy it. Everyone should find their own way. George

Greetings from Panama. I am now close to 5 years in Panama, what should be normally a 5 month vacation. Right. Came to Panama after I was invited by friends. November 2019 flight Edmonton Alberta to Panama City. Pandemic started and I was stranded for 2 years in Panama. Wasn’t allowed to fly back home. Anyway. Like you said. Try out nice and warm countries for the retirement living. After my last online request for my return flight was again denied, I just had enough from Canada. Sold everything and just enjoyed Panama. Originally from Germany, I would have never dreamed of sitting every day under Palm trees and enjoying a cold beer. Even started last year in June to build my own house here. There is no hurry in finishing it. I just enjoy doing it. Coming home before it gets too hot outside and enjoying dinner with my girlfriend. Difference how you met your Janet, I did find my lady on the street. Old style. Enjoy your life!

Slow pace in Dumaguete. You must be kidding. That place is a cesspool. 134,000 people. Who knows how many motorcycles and not one traffic light in the entire city. Garbage on the streets. I just got back from 3 weeks there. I didn’t see one city worker doing anything in Dumaguete. If there are building codes they are certainly not enforced. Shoddy looking condos and other buildings going up just anywhere there is space to put them. I married a Filipina there in 1987. We have lived in the United States since then and we will continue to live here. Dumaguete is not fit for a human being to live in. The pollution from all of those vehicles is horrible. My last trip going there.

Great video. Mike, I am so grateful for your opinions and openness about you life in the Philippines. No BS, no exaggeration, very transparent.. Between you Vlogs and Paul's, the Old Dog, your information has very much inspired me to consider, and eventually decide that this is where I needed to be. Long story short, I have met and married a Filipina. Later this year, we will settle in her home town outside of Daet in Bicol. Her town is a charming, quiet, beautiful, and well equipped to handle the rain drainage. I am so blessed in that her family is awesome. Her son is well mannered and quite positive in his life outlook. In June, we will travel back for her son's high school graduation. We have much to do, but a gig part of this travel is to get my wife's name change completed. As you are now well aware, the red tape and always changing requirements, can be very daunting. But we will get it handled, one bite at a time. (like eating an elephant). All this to say, I hope that we can take a side trip to Dumaguete and sit down with at least you and Janet, because of your inspiration for me. Buy you a meal, and maybe even get Paul and Mae to come along. Again, I appreciate all your "real" advise. Honest, no hyperbole. Much thanks.

Hi Mike. I've been watching your videos for the past several months, and you do strike me as relaxed and happy. I'm planning to make my own boot-on-the-ground exploration of the Phils sometime soon. When I do, when I get down to Negros, I'll reach out again and perhaps we can meet up for a coffee and chill. Keep up the good work!

My fiancée lives close to Rosario, La Union on Luzon. I just got back from a 1 month visit with her ( I asked her to marry me this year) and I have to say that it was so refreshing to be with a woman that actually cares about me. This time I spent was the best 4 weeks of my life in the last 25 years. I will be moving to the Philippines soon after I sell all my personal possessions back in the US.

Hi Mike enjoyed your video and so good to see you fulfilled with your life there. My plan was to retire in the Philippines but after 5 years together with Lynn from Ormoc, we now live in Australia for the last year. It's not the location but the caring and loving nature of Filipinos that makes the difference. Couldn't be happier. Never felt so loved!

So happy for you Mike and I’m glad I found your channel. I was in the Philippines for a month mid-January to mid-February and loved every minute. I will be retiring later this year and will be going back.

Thanks a lot for your video Mike. I am in the transition for moving to Philippines. When you recorded the video I was there. I´ll be for a second time and a longer period of six months. All the question you asked yourself were also in my mind. I have at the moment only the experience of two months there and was positive, I did´nt want to return to my country. I share with you the same purposes and the same needs regarding starting a new life. Has been very useful, encouraging and interesting for me to have been able to listen to you. Thanks again for sharing your personal experiences.

Good job Mike. I worked with the Philippinos for a very long time, they are hard workers and good caring people. I am ready to come and stay in Dumaguete City. I am looking forward for this trip.
