Nice summary Jim, and thanks for all your videos over the past couple of years on Neo (though I've been following them since Luminar 4 days!) - my editing has improved immeasurably. By the way, do you know if Luminar are still planning to release the Water Enhancer feature? That's one I was really looking forward to given I mostly do travel photography, but they seem to have gone very quiet on that.

Thanks so much and that is a good point, we haven't heard about that one in a while. I will have to check and see if they are going to announce that. I honestly had forgotten about it.

Just hope it has a longer life than AI and Luminar 4 did. Neo is my workhorse (not fussed on the gen ai, magic light suff) but quick easy and get some fantastic results. Good product 💯 and Jim you are a great ambassador for them too. 👍👍✨

Any difference between Mac and PC in terms of performance for this software? Which one would you recommend?
@JimNix11 ай бұрын
I always recommend a Mac, but not just for this - for everything. I haven't used a PC in 15+ years so I am clearly a Mac guy. But to be fair, I haven't tried this on a PC so I can't compare them, sorry.

I use Luminar Neo primarily as a plug-in from ON1. I realize some of the tools and features are not available when using plugin mode. If you have not already done so, would it be possible to do a video on this? It would help me a lot. Thank you.
@JimNix11 ай бұрын
Thanks and do you mean a video on using the two together? Or which tools are/are not available when you do?

Nice video, Jim. I like both ON1 and Neo, but I have to admit I use Neo more. It's just quicker and easier to get the result I want. Also, I like that all the tools are on the right hand side in Neo. With ON1, you have to load the effects tools separately. Not a big deal, I guess. I just find it easier to scroll through the tools in Luminar Neo.
@JimNix11 ай бұрын
Thanks Geoff and yes Luminar is quicker for me than On1 and everything else. It's why it's my fave. I love the others too but def use Luminar most. Thanks!

How do change HDR photo to standard
@JimNix11 ай бұрын
I don't understand what you mean. Can you clarify? The HDR here is built from individual raw files, so you can always just edit a single raw instead. Does that help?

Hey Jim, was just wondering about the photo walk sponsored by Luminar neo and Fujifilm. I got an email in regards to this but no further details have been posted, Just wondering what it all entails before I travel 200 plus miles from Corpus Christi. Any info. would be appeciated.

Hi there and it will be on Tuesday March 12, from 6-8pm, in downtown Austin. I am still planning the route, but it's downtown for sure. So if you are looking for a hotel, there are plenty. Also if you are around for a couple of days, there are lots of spots to shoot here. I have this list on my website: jimnix.com/top-photo-spots-in-austin if you want to review. Thanks and see you there!

Sorry to keep asking questions but was wondering what type of lenses will be needed and will we need a tripod and if a Fujifilm camera is required? I have an XT5 but my son who will also attend had a Cannon@@JimNix
@JimNix11 ай бұрын
@@jdgarcia333 hi Jerry and questions are fine. Bring any lenses you like for cityscape and street photos. I have a X100V which is a fixed prime, so I am using that. Bring a tripod if you want one, though I am not bringing mine. But if you are here and shooting around some more outside of this event, it would be useful. And no worries if you son brings a Canon. Fuji is a co=sponsor of the event but using a Fuji camera is not required at all. Just come with any camera and we will walk, talk and take photos. It's very casual. Thanks.

I love neo but really irritated with Gen erase and gen fill... Do you also face issues with Gen erase when nothing gets erased and Gen fill adds anything garbage.. now sure how to contact luminar team fo this issue

GenAI is a challenge sometimes because the images gets handed to Stable Diffusion which is doing the "enhancements" so you can't always predict what you will get. I tend to try variations of my prompts to refine it.

Anthony Turnham has produced a two year review also, and I'll add a comment here similar to what I sent to him. I'm a legacy lifetime licence holder and I believe I don't have access to the generative AI tools. I can only hope the Luminar team don't concentrate on improving the generative AI and neglect to enhance the other tools. Any anniversary review ought to look at how the licensing model has changed in respect to subscription model.
@JimNix11 ай бұрын
Hi Bill and thanks, and good points. I didn't really think about the licensing options, obviously, just the product updates. I don't think they will ignore key features in favor of GenAI though. I already know of more things they are working on that I think everyone will like. I appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

I usually love your videos, but this was more of a commercial than instruction.
@JimNix11 ай бұрын
Thanks Scott and that's fair. When I make a video about what I love about something, it sort of by definition is a bit of a commercial I guess, because I am not truly teaching how to use it, bur rather pointing out what I use (and maybe why). But for sure plenty of instruction in Neo already here, and more coming each week. Thanks.
