Today we go over my Y62 and my thoughts on it 2 years later. Is it a good option for your next car? Are they worth the money?
Please let me know down below, what do you want to see next week?!

Thanks for the review. About the electronics - its something that effects all vehicles - but since you have not had issues, it would have been good to describe other's failures. A member of our van group replaced his 200 VX with a 300 GR, and his sparky touched the 300's loom. The wait on a new loom was many months, and the loom cost something like $16,000. My friend lost a tow vehicle for a year. In the end the Sparky's insurance wrote the vehicles off, and my friend bought the wreck and sold it, and got a payout from the Sparky's insurance company. All vehicles can have issues ... even new tech ones. When talking about electrical issues - it's best to state them - like you did with the trailer plug. Otherwise one ends up worrying about something that is very unlikely to happen. When it does though, the issue in the outback is "serviceability", and Toyota has the covered. But should one pay $40k + for serviceability and to what extent is a time delay worth paying $40k extra for? And then one can argue for a 300 the depreciation aspect - but if one bought that pricing difference of $40k in shares/ stocks, those would appreciate every year and would cover any depreciation difference between a Y62 and a 300. If one is financing the vehicle, the balance the savings agains fuel and servicing costs. But the 300 requires more frequent servicing. And while the Y62 uses a lot more fuel in the city - the 300 needs frequent long runs for its distillate filter to clean itself out - the 300 has its own city issues too. Final comment is the towing - IMO for the Nomads, just add air springs and pay attention to the weight. While the 300 has a slight advantage there, it's not a big difference unless one buys a 300 GX, which is painfully basic but seems a good bush vehicle for its price. As far as seats go - I found the seats better in a Y62 than in a 300, as did my wife. The only 300 that rides better than the Y62 is the 300 Sahara VX - due to its variable shockers. And that vehicle is costly and designed for the city. The only advantage that the interior space of the 300 has over the Y62 is when the 300 seats are folded flat, the floor is horizontal, while the Y62 the floor has an incline.

Nice, honest review, mate. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these, and you've just about got me over the line. Hard to find many details on the Y63 yet.

Thanks for the info mate. I’m buying new, so as you said only real options are Y62 and 300 series. I’m not convinced waiting for the Y63 is a good idea as it seems to be more fancy, expensive, and a turbo V6 petrol doesn’t seem right for a tourer. I don’t mind the idea of a 300 series but to get similar spec to a Y62 it’s 130k for the vx when the only real feature I want is decent seats. Worst part of 4wding is hearing people go on about how good their Toyota is. People get very carried away with their corporate loyalties.

I really want to buy a Warrior but I worried about the seating. It just feel so firm and it doesn't hold you in position. Its like it they were made for 6 foot plus sized people. Everything about the car I like except the seats. The problem is made worse by the fact that where I live the Toyota dealer is right next to the Nissan dealer. After spending 15 minutes sitting in the patrol I went and sat in a LC300 and the seats are like plush lounge chair that has the support of a bucket seat. How long did it take you to get used to the seats and did they soften up a bit?

Yep, this is something I don't like. Will change them eventually. You do get use to them quickly and they do soften up after 6 months or so, depending on conditions.
Does Toyota stand by their warranty?
