The storage company are liable for the theft of the parts as it was in there care, just claim off there insurance. Just don’t expect the plod to do anything they won’t be bothered. Pester the storage people for the results of there cctv search or ask for a copy of the cctv so you can review it yourself. It’s more likely the car was not covered by a camera and they are lying.

The small window of 3 days between the video going up, and the car going into storage is almost a guaranteed out for the storage company and thier insurance. Especially with that mirror being missing. That mirror being hidden under the seat in the video, and missing now means whoever stole from that car watched the original video because they knew exactly where to look for the mirror. That's not saying it didn't still happen in the companies care, but they are 100% going to use that as an excuse not to pay out, and if they really had CCTV on it 24/7 then they will be covered, sibling as there's no video of it being stolen.

@@Jack-bf6hv not the same thing at all. But to be fair there's many a story of parents raiding thier kids rooms and taking things like smokes, drugs, p0rn and other things hidden from them. Again, it's not right it was stolen, but people know Ferrari = Money, and widely advertising an abandoned Ferrari with easily stolen parts during 2020 when people are loosing jobs left and right, is not the brightest idea. Those parts should have been removed. Put in the owners house, or the guardians house he was talking about, or even his own house, that's just smart thinking. It's easier to protect yourself than it is the trust every person in the world to habe a conscious.

@@Yesthatsmyfirstname Most likely these items were stolen during that three-day window prior to the car going into storage with 24-hour CCTV security. The theft happened during that three-day window by someone fairly local and someone who knows about Ferraris, obviously.

i think the owner of the storage facillity should be asked to pay perhaps by the police since they had the car moved (with great intentions). The owner could ask the employees to return the parts no questions asked, no cameras. Another more serious course is for the police to give all employees of the storage facility a lie detector test.

The worst part in my mind is that unless the parts are found, even if you're 100% financially reimbursed, all you can ever do is find _replacement_ parts. It's the kind of thing some people might not care about, but it would always bother me knowing I didn't have the original came-with-the-car accessories. Anyone running a car lot/storage facility would _have_ to be aware of the hugely valuable accessories that accompany exotics. Whether they or some guy off the street made off with the goods, it's completely their fault. That vehicle should have been in a secured and monitored location, and anything less should be considered gross negligence. And the convenient timing of the police randomly deciding it should be moved right before this all happens makes me question who chose the towing company and storage facility. If it was all on their end, I wouldn't put it past some scumbag going around picking ideal candidates for this kind of theft and letting the involved parties in on a cut of the action. Stealing something is a whole lot easier when you have total control over its physical location _and_ security.

I worked at a car body shop while in high school. The minute a tow truck left a wreck in our secure yard a couple other employees would search through the cars looking for stuff to steal. Dirtbags. I used to try and beat them to it and secure the stuff for the owner. I found a roll of silver half dollars once and when the owner came looking for them the next day I was glad to see the shop owner hand them to him. He pointed at me and the customer walked over, thanked me, and gave me two of the coins. I still have them 30 years later. I hope you catch the scumbags who took that stuff.

They will have removed it because of 3 main reasons a) sus stolen b) used in crime c) proceeds of crime. There are a few more obscure reasons, but I cant think any would apply to a classic car thats clearly been parked for many years gathering dust. I am not sure how it goes in UK, but in some countries police can confiscate property, if the person is under financial investigation such as tax avoidance or bankruptcy to ensure that the property is not sold and the money hidden during the investigation. This ensures that if there is liabilities or fines to pay after the investigation and possible court judgement, the property can be held until fines are paid or it can be sold to cover the liabilities.

What a load of crap this story is, sat there for over 10years and suddenly the police order its removal!! When Mr Ratarossa supposedly bought the car did the log book confirm who the owner was, was it the “owner” you were dealing with, if not you walk away? He doesn’t mention anything about the log book and if the “owner” he’s been dealing with is the genuine owner! Also you state“ I had $20000 worth stolen from my Ferrari”! When the items were stolen it was NOT your Ferrari!!! You had not bought it then! So when you went to buy after the owner offered it for sale the price would reflect the missing items!!

Wait, let me get this straight. You find a Ferrari that has not been driven in years. You don't own it, but you post videos of it on the web, and then, before you own it, it gets towed to another "storage" location because you brought attention to it by posting videos of it on the internet. Parts are stolen from it - before you own it. You then negotiate with the owner to purchase the vehicle and then post a video of parts missing before your ownership. Also, you have owned more than four Ferraris. 1. The previous owner should be dealing with the authorities or their insurance company to get the missing parts back. 2. You should not have bought the car with the parts missing or should have negotiated a price considering the missing parts. 3. When you bought and picked up the car, it was probably sold in "as is" condition given that 4. I think this video hints a bit at greed or privilege - given the current cars in your stable. Now that the car is yours, it is not right to go back and try to recover parts that went missing before your ownership. You got a "good deal" on a Ferrari and should move forward with the ownership and garage restoration of it. Sno Dawg

The problem is time, ebay and craigslist only keep old ads for I think 30 or 60 days after the item is sold, so if these were taken back in may/June/July those ads are going to be gone unless someone saw the stuff listed and had a bunch it came from this so they documented it. More so now we're banking on whoever may have bought the items realizing they belong to this car and presenting them. Then you can get in contact with the company who they bought through and possibly track the transaction to the seller that way.
