The Grand INquisitor is a 5 pg tale about the spanish inquisition it is somewhere in the middle of Brothers Karamozov it doesnt relate to the 750 pg novel its just there in thrown in for no apparent reason If you want to know about the author he is more conservative then radical and not existential compared to Camus he basically takes a small riff against Tolstoy in this one; his very last novel he more or less didnt know if he would finish the book and its about a father protecting his son who becomes a monk and they more or less treat all gypsys like an evil race that more or less takes place in an evangelical setting with only the end providing any active scenes where there is any meaning conveyed to the reader otherwise its his best work well written and totalitarian in a subjective context

I started with Mort as well, it was really good. Kinda scared that it's going to fall in the same category as hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, because it's also fairly humour based. Starsight was also really good! Some people didnt seem to enjoy it as much as Skyward, but I actually enjoyed it a tad more tbh I'd say I'm most excited for you to pick up starsight because I loved it and want to see how you react lmao

Please read The Shadow of the Wind!!! There are very few Spanish authors that get translated to English and Carlos Ruiz Zafón is really out there making us Spaniards proud🌟😊 I read TSOTW (which is part of a four book series that you can perfectly read as standalones) and it really reflects the reality of Spain (particularly Barcelona) during that period. The way of speaking, the appearance of the streets, the social issues...it's the mirror of a broken yet magical age. I hope it doesn't lose all of this because of the translation, but either way, hope you read it soon and enjoy it a lot!!💛💛

I'm excited to see your take on Mort. I just started the discworld books last year, finding each installment like a wacky ride of fun. Yet to me, I feel like the humour felt more British in nature. I suppose, as humour is subjective, I could be very wrong in that interpretation. Side Note for anyone about to read Mort. The book is more in the perspective of Mort who is the apprentice of death rather than death himself.

The Karamazov Brothers is such an important book for me. One of my all time favorite. Idiot is outstanding as well. I would suggest you reading one of these two. I would love(!!!) to hear your thoughts. It might be not the easiest read but I would recommend just taking your time to slowly digest Dostoevsky's works without pushing yourself to finish them quickly (I plan on rereading them both this year, you won't be alone). Also, I've set a similar challenge for myself and I'm oddly excited that we have some of the same books in it: the Way of Kings, the Name of the Wind and the Skyward series cause you hyped it up enough for me:) Thank you for the video! Happy to see the “Three-Body Problem” made it to the list. But I think if the first one piques your interest, you would need to read the next two books in the series. In my opinion, the books get better as you progress in the series. I also found it surprising that there are no books from Kim Stanley Robinson in your shelves.
