First, love your videos and your enthusiasm. You are a much needed joy. Second, thank you for a great idea for using bandanas. While my dad was getting treatment at MD Anderson, they would give patients bandanas for walking a lap around the floor. Movement is Medicine. He lost his battle with cancer, but I have all his bandanas. He was my biggest quilt fan and enabler and this will be a great way to use all the bandanas he received. I have enough for my siblings as well. Thank you.

Bonnie.. thank you for sharing this... I am so sorry for the loss of your father! Trust me I know what you are going through. I will be praying for you and your family... The bandana quilt would be a great memorial to your father and hope it will make you feel his presence when you have it covered over you.

My girlfriend and I made a banana quilt in 1970. I was a garment maker. The quilt was her idea. We alternated red and blue. We made a small throw and tied it with crochet cotton. I've been quilting since 1990. I have the skills now to make your bandana quilt. Love your sparkley introduction. My youngest sister was named April.

I am so sorry for your loss. I think a quilt from those bandanas would be a wonderful memory quilt. If you have any of his shirts you could use those for a pieces backing. Big parts of his shirts. Hugs April

I've wanted to make a bandana quilt for years, but haven't done it yet. I often get reminded when at Hobby Lobby, of course. With them being so flimsy, I figured I'd prep them with stabilizer or some sort of fusible webbing before even attempting to cut or sew them before I get super frustrated at them shifting and going wonky all over the place.

My eye keeps going to purple and green. I used to go to Wal-Mart every quarter for bandanas. I called it a wardrobe change for my St. Bernard, Nana. They caught all of her drool and after a week change it or she'd bury it in back yard!! 😂 They always had for about $1 and fun seasonal prints and for $5-10 bucks, Nana made a fashion statement 😂😂

My St. Bernard's name was Bella. I miss her so incredibly much. I bet your girl is beyond adorable with all her 'fashion'...we used to wrap scarves around Bella's neck and I swear she would smile and do a Miss America strut! Such a wonderful breed! Ps. I like the green and purple too! =)

April I love this idea! Don’t know if I’m brave enough to try it. Heck I have a hard time with 1/2 square triangles out of cotton! I noticed on the bottom ones that you said didn’t look quite like stars that the corners of the block might could be turned around with the other color facing out and it may look a little more starry. If that’s a word! But I could be wrong! I have only been quilting a couple of years. So I don’t know for sure! Haha!! Thanks for always sharing and being brave enough to share your mistakes and what happened!

I love using bandana to make quilts. Normally they about 20 inches square. I have discovered that if you starch them before you start cutting, your work turns out much more accurate. My favorite pattern to use bandanas for is a disappearing 9 patch, using bandanas cut into four approximately 10 squares.

If you leave the blocks connected as you sew them, you won’t have a problem. The rows just lay over on top of each other in the right order. You can even stack them to sew later. Lea Louise shows this method in one (or more?) of her tutorials and it is a brilliant time (and frustration) saver.
