I love Salak Fruit and Blood Clam. Boil the Blood Clam and dig up the flash and deep it into spicy sauce, it tastes so delicious. In my country we eat baby sharks. Cut into small pieces then coated with corn flour and deed fry it. After deep fry stir fry in sweet and sour sauce, it tastes very nice and delicious. Century Egg tastes so good especially eaten with pickle young ginger slices.

The more you think about all the chemicals and preservatives and added sugar to our basic foods, the less food that is generally considered “weird” is actually weird. Just culturally different. What’s really weird is consuming foods that have toxins and an organization that decides a certain amount of toxins are okay to consume.

Different cultures around the world have unique food traditions, and what might seem strange to one person can be completely normal to another. It’s all part of the fascinating diversity of global cuisine! Understanding and respecting these differences helps us appreciate the variety of ways people live and eat around the world. 🌍

I actually kinda want to try some of these. But not the last two, or the maggot cheese. Not sure about morels, the bamboo fungus or black garlic either. And I would like to never try natto. I WANT to try salak. I might have to nerve myself to try the giant isopod, but I bet it would be good once I did. I would like to try the uni, the gooeyduck, and the termite egg soup too. I'm not sure about the blood clams- I do have a sensitive system, although my issue is exclusively with plants and some mushrooms. It could be that for some reason, a genetic quirk, etc., I'm just wired better for meat. But it also may be that since I dislike virtually all probiotic foods that my gut biome is just terrible and won't let me process most plants correctly. I admit that I haven't been able to overcome my dislike of fermented/live cultured foods to test that possibility.

Food is food. In America we are so accustomed to what we consider normal, that it shuts out any possibility for anything new. I’m a foodie, I’ll try anything at least once. There’s one thing I will never try though, the rotten fish in a can that is sold in some British countries. I don’t know what it’s called, but I will never try it. I got to draw a line to some things. Rotten fish is one of them.
@sabinegierth-waniczek487219 күн бұрын
Hi, I wager that you refer to *surströmming* - artisanally (!) rotten and canned herring from Sweden. ALLEGEDLY (I never tried it, and never will, just like casu marzu - the fly larvae can jump up to two meters, and often harm eaters' eyes...) they are ready to eat when the can shows a distinctive outward protrusion - a sign for OTHER cans to be beyond safe consumption! TMK it is forbidden to take cans of surströmming on board of planes, due to the danger of bursting during pressure changes. I for one can not abstain from dry-heaving every time I just SEE natto, it is the bane of my always hungry mind, albeit I never tasted it (and never will, no matter how healthy it is!). *What I unreservedly can recommend for all to try out: SALAK!* This fruit is delicious, but very hard to come by (at least in Europe, in my experience). If you get one, eat it quickly - in my experience the fruit is often already near its spoiling point because it seems not to ship too well, and it is often expensive. I made the mistake to wait too long -> loss of money AND a delicacy, really stupid of me!
