There's just one thing in your video that deserves a little critics: What you showed for the Tange was not Tango. Ok, the Argentine Tange was correct, although it is not the classical Tango, but the modern "Electrotango". But the dance you showed for the International Tango was the Vienna Walz. Why didnt they show someone actually performing a ballet, like natalia osipova in giselle or yasmine naghdi's romeo and juliet... If their point was to just include only black ballet dancers for some reason (im fine with black ballet dancers but diversity means you gotta include everything) Why didnt they show misty copeland's nutcracker or swan lake etc. Like just showing a couple dancers doing bourree doesnt represent ballet at all. Dont get me started on the fact that they put the dragon dance for china. It kinda shows they didnt rlly put much research at all bcs if they did they would have put chinese classical dance. Dragon dance is more of a festival show. They also just HAD to put people doing hakas in suits in a workplace. Like its fine but at least put one vid of a fully traditional one. They also put a waltz in the tango section.

Jarabe tapatio is the name of the dance from Jalisco, Mexico. The correct name of the dance style is ballet folklorico. There are a plethora of different styles in Mexico per region.

why didn't they mention that although ballet started in Italy and France (especially during the reign of Louis XIV), it was truly developed in Russia later on and spread through the whole world once Russian ballet dancers left the country for the U.S. as an example?
@juliaj79393 жыл бұрын
Because she wanted people to think ballet was invented by black people, not white Europeans. Russians are the best at ballet, and to show them would be against her narrative. I'm just surprised she showed actual Spanish, Irish and Viennese people for their dances.

@Julia J I was wondering the same thing about hip hop also. Since hip hop and break dancing started with in the black culture, I would think that blacks should've been in the video, but they would want everyone to believe that it started within the white culture. Like you, I just don't get it either.

I love all of the suggestions for what you should add -- I believe you have a Dance historian/ Anthropologist career ahead of you. Excellent editing as well and your passion for dance shone through as well as you self-education regarding the origin of the dances. Its so wonderful to have a contemporary look at a 'few' of the world dances that is accurate and I can share with my students being introduced to the magical world of dance for the first time. Dance saved my life as well and is my vehicle through life. Thank you for your offering and keep up the beautiful work! Brava!

First I'd recommend making sure she knows the correct pronunciation for the terms used.... Mispronouncing technical words related to the subject area doesn't exactly foster confidence in the presenter's knowledge...
