The entire vibe - glasses, shirt, colour and hair - all on point ! 👌 The shopping is good too - the ham is no! If great grandma wouldn’t know what the ingredient is - stay away

Great to see you again. Lovin that outfit! It’s a job reading labels and figuring out the deals isn’t it. You have inspired me to recommit to the goals. It’s a challenge every shopping trip… Stay on budget? It is healthy as possible? Lower quality or quantity? you do an excellent job. Thanks for sharing everything.

Great to see your honesty on here, think it just shows how if you don't have a plan when shopping or meal planning you can suddenly start seeing yourself just buying more and more and it all adds up! My advice dont wait till the month end to get back on track, start today it's so easy to think if a month isnt going well to let loose for the rest of it. Ive been ill this week so the start of my month pf budgeting hasn't been what i expected but i hope to get back on track. Have you ever gotten a too good to go box from Lidl? There my new obsession! 😊

Hi Emma hope you are well! I’ve never got the too good to go I am trying to get a £1.50 veg box but they are never available. How are you feeling? Hope you feel better soon. Omg yes you’re right I need to sit down this week to work out what I’ve spent and create a meal plan. We got this!! 🫶❤️💪💪💪

Ascorbic Acid is another nane for vitamin C - it's an antioxidant used in packaged food, sulphites are usually used when there's sugar (could be natural sugar) in something to stop it fermenting and blowing the lid off! Some people can have reactions to it, it's in a lot of wines but it's *mostly harmless*

Asorbic acid, vitamin c, can be occurring naturally in the product rather than being added. I’ve had a lot of stomach, digestive tract issues resulting in surgery over the years so I read the labels meticulously. Over time you will come to recognise ingredients that are okay and the nastiest to stay way from. A dietitian I saw years ago gave me a rule of thumb, if’s a word you have to think about how to read and or pronounce it out loud, or something you wouldn’t have in your pantry, you don’t want it. You’re on a journey and looking really good. I don’t do Keto, I don’t eat much meat, although I do eat some, I tend to eat low carb so I can have beans and pulses, and that really works for me. Take care xx ps the outfit is fab 😍

So jello over here in the US, our food prices are so much higher. That lard was a score, it's $2.49 a pack over here. One thing I miss from the UK ( British ex-pat here) is the food prices, but our petrol is cheap in comparison. I did manage to get two beef roasts for 6 bucks, just over 4 quid each , this week, so I can't grumble too much! We have to shop those bargains these days! Those tomatoes looked really good!

*Lidl* nice to see some cost effective prices on olives & steaks & eggs. Seem to be cheaper than aldi and asda that I bought this week in. I recommend mixed pickle ( Hayward's pickled onion & cauliflower & gherkins) on offer £1.49 Morrisons this week saving of £1 normally £2.49

Chicken tikka means small pieces of chicken, I think the spices make the taste and masala means spice. So I think just adding spices to taste including curry, cinnamon, turmeric, cloves, cumin create dishes with chicken tikka

Hi R & Jack 👋 Thanks for sharing another haul. As a recently converted 'Ketovore' I'm discovering new recipes daily and like you, keeping to a budget. Good organic or grass fed minced beef has been my friend (newly acquired, reliable friend!). A lump of the stuff is so versatile ...from making homemade meatloaf, burgers, curries, kebabs, Mexican/Asian dishes...all you need is eggs/spices/herbs with the beef and you have yourself a dish. Coupled with salad/veg/fruit of course. And the best thing is, minced beef is budget friendly, v filling and it goes a looooooong way. I'm not bored of it yet but ask me again 6 months time 😄

I believe that citric acid helps to prevent botulism in food, people also use lemon juice but citric acid tends to be more popular in the supermarkets. That’s why you see it in so many tinned food. I’m not sure about the others. If you know this already, sorry!! 😂

Industrial " citric acid" , as used in commercial food, is actually derived from black mould, research it. Its disgusting what they are allowed to add to food.

It's made from black mould and it's unnecessary like so much of the added nasties in our food.

@BudgetFoodieUK I live 1hr from a regular grocery store and 1.5 hrs from good shopping. For me it's all about having a huge pantry and freezer. Try to stock up on sales, which got rare after covid, and cooking from scratch. We only go to town for medical or building materials. Never just for shopping. We do have a veggie man who comes 3x per week, with good prices, couldn't live here without that.
