This was my first barbell workout. I am age 71. Just what I needed to get started! I will continue with this workout with light weights until I gain more strength and confidence. Thank you, Gemma!

Thank you! I bought a barbell and weights so that I could workout at home. I have a toddler and she hung out with me while we counted and I lifted! Can't wait to do this again :)

I do this workout Evey time I use the barbell at the gym (thank goodness for women's only rooms) and you help me gain so much confidence (and some tone in my arms for once not twig arms). Thank you for such an informative yet straight forward video for beginners like me! 💛

Just bought myself a barbell today and was on the lookout for some good workouts! This was a brilliant video, loved every second even if I won't be able to bend down in work tomorrow 😂🙈 Excited to try the rest of your videos!

This will be the first time for me using a pump bar. Do you have a 10 lb weight on each end, or a 5 lb on each end? As a beginner, should I start out with 5? Or would it be okay to use 8 lb on each end?

I have 10 lbs on each end in this video. Try the first round with the 10 lbs if you feel like it is too heavy you can drop down from there. I find if the weight is too light it can be hard to keep your form. Try it and see how you get on. Xx

ok I am just starting. what barbell set do you recommend. I am 5'3, 118lb and have only done 5lb dumbells thus far...so I think I need a lighter set for now. ANYONE else new...what did you invest in for at home. Sadly her link doesn't work anymore

I use a studio barbell, they’re available on amazon or online gym shops. Over time you will be able to increase the weight. Dumbbells are great as they can be cheaper at lighter weights. They do start to get more pricey as you increase the weight. Hope that helps.

Hi , is this a 5ft barbell? I have confined space and I’m want to be sure I can do all exercises with a 5ft barbell .

Hi Maddie, the one I have is 140cm/ 4.6ft. If you search for studio or body pump barbell on Amazon it should come up. Happy exercising 👍

It helps with building muscle which has been shown to support weight loss overall

Great workout, trying it with heavyweights 😅 I find it better if I lift in trainers that are flatter to the floor rather with thicker soles. I lift in converse or just bare feet 🤣 also if you pop a plate under your heels you’ll get lower into that squat! 🍑

I got it from Mcsport.ie the brand is hit fitness but jordan do one too if you Google studio barbell it should come up this type were about €80 but they sell fast so set up an alert for when they come back in stock 😃✌️hope that helped Gem x

Hi Abdi, the bar I am using is a studio bar. The plates range from 1.25kg to 5kg. I would search for that to see if you can get one locally. This workout is low weight high reps and is for muscle endurance. If you want to grow muscle lift slightly heavier for less reps and have about 1.8-2g per kg of protein throughout the day to stimulate muscle protein synthesis. Hope that helps 😃
